Just taking a few days in HBA in December for birthday purposes (it's a b*gger being born a week before Xmas!!) and wondering what I can expect in the HBA QP.
Not that its a highlight mind, but it's the only QP I haven't graced yet.

Looks small from the outside. HBA is a small airport. I flew DJ last month, so didn't use QP at all. Not sure about inside!

Also be aware that the QP in Hobart is land-side so you need to allow time to get through security after leaving.

I really like the HBA QP. Yes, it is small and just before departure it can be jam packed but it is a self service bar with Cascade Draft! Little nibbles like sandwiches, cold cuts and soup in the evenings. It is well looked after and the floor to ceiling windows give a great view of the apron.

The walk from QP to boarding gate is about 5 min including the security screening. Note that they make announcements in the lounge for all QF and JQ flights.

They also have VB in the bar but Cascade Draft - not sold on the mainland - is nectar of the gods.

For this reason alone I think Hobart could get a visit very soon.

Last time I was in Hobart I actually bought two slabs, wrapped them in a nondescript cardbox and checked them in. Was extremely happy when they popped out the other end chilled (the aircraft hold isn't heated) and intact.

No idea whether I broke any laws but by crikey we had a large one that night.

It was extra sweet as priority baggage worked and they came out first.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yeah, can probably be guaranteed a free security vaccuum, but they usually hold the plane for me;)

The smaller the better in my experience - sandwiches you reckon, with no party pie scrum??

Hobart and Launceston QP's are the tops.
No not big, quite small but hey anything from or in Tassie is the best.

I recently look LST-MEL on the last JQ flight.
The QP was in a small room, overlooking the airfield. Self service bar / wifi / food.
All the suits for the QantasLink departure quickly shuffled out and I was nearly left on my own but for two other people.
Was quite a good experience, but no Cascade Draught.
:p

Would I be right in assuming it is Cascade Draught that is the nectar of the gods!

Doesn't Liquorland sell a generic beer brewed in Tasmania that tastes just like Boags Draught?

Can't recall it's name right now, but it's something nautical (eg roaring 40s or southern something ... )

"You'll Love Coles Draught"?

I can just imagine the picture of the person on the front of the bottle with a tag line "Light, zesty and high alcohol content. Makes me drunk despite the GFC!" ;)

I hope not :)

"You'll Love Coles Draught"?

Lol, the name came back to me while flying. It's 'Tasman Bitter'. According to various web sources, it's bottled for Liquorland by Boags.

Has both good and bad reviews on the net.

Ahhhh, AFF!!

Thankfully, respondents have quickly got to the root of all AFF enquiries as in what beer is served in what QP where - champion!!!

Despite that, do they offer xx_X as that it what all good beers are judged by:cool: (lets not get into what beer is overseas owned at this stage).

More, more importantly, do they offer Tas wines in HBA QP or are they just the usual samplers found in most small QP's?
