Hilton will be offering a challenge for customers who haven't maintained their status

Just got off the phone with Hilton regarding a number of account issues.

Had the most wonderful service experience with the rep on the phone, and when discussing the various challenge programs and whether I have retained status for the rest of the year (I have, on base points but wasn't sure), she let me know that in March, Hilton will be offering a challenge to those customers who didn't regain their status (and who's current status expire in March).
She didn't have any more details than that, but said an email would be sent explaining it when Hilton release the information to those people eligible for it.

Thought some of you would be interested to know that.

That may become a useful option. A lot of us with a Mar 2014 expiry date are assuming the card date will be honoured but if it isn't (ala missed requal requirements) then some of us may be happy on challenges.

You status expires in March this year, so you may offered a challenge going by the phone call I spoke about.

there are likely to be quite a few status granted diamonds with expiry March 2014 on their card.

"Late next year" suggests beyond that, it would be interesting to know the exact month "Late next year" is referring to.

Hey JohnK. I already know of a challenge that will guarantee you continuous HH diamond until Mar 2014.

Stay 30 nights between now and 30 March 2013! :shock:

Sounds very Harry Potterish. Maybe racing through the corridors of HSW on a nimbus 2000 or divining the ingredients of some potion (identifying the variety of their complimentary lounge wines would indeed pose a remarkable challenge).

I have had a challenge in the past, that was basically have 4 stays (nights? can't remember which now) in 3 months (i.e. April 1 - Jun 30), to regain Gold. The challenge was outlines in the email that I got informing me of my downgrade!

So, they have offered challenges in the past, but I have no idea how they select who gets such a challenge.

have had similar experience a few years ago and I think it was stays rather than nights.

Thanks for that. My matched Diamond will drop to Gold in March (and only just got to Gold by the skin of my teeth), so will be interested in what they have to say, assuming 'all' members receive it.

It would be good and a bit later this year I should be able to 21 nights in 90 days

Thanks to Newk, we now know what one challange is.

3 weeks in 3 months.

Up side, diamond can be achieved in as little as 3 weeks and the spend to do so looks on the face of it to be about 25% less than normal (YMMV) and it's especially good as it's nights rather than stays.

Downside, you don't have diamond whilst you do the challange. I always believed they comped status whilst you did the challange?

I probably won't retain Diamond as my travel has greatly decreased due to work issues/staffing issues.
