Hi All. Hilton Gold member here. What Hilton is better in SFO in terms of room upgrades, service, facilities and breakfast offerings? I've heard it was previously a voucher at a cafe or a Starbucks. Is this still the case?

We stayed at the Fin district about 18mths ago. No room upgrade (Diamond), the lounge was small and the food was OK but the room staff liked us and we got about 6 bottles of water per day.

What I did like about it was it was one block from the cable car, close to China Town and our room had a view of the harbour and was comfortable.

Oh, and they overcharged us on bar drinks to our room - we dont drink alcohol and never visited the bar. I was too sick to notice and complain.

It's funny but i spent a long time researching the best options of these two hotels as well. Being a Diamond I was keen to use Hilton to get the benefits from it. However, after a lot of reading reviews and the like, i actually cancelled my original booking and decided on a different hotel chain for better location, ratings, reviews and benefits. Just seemed to see too many negatives with Hilton in SFO. I may be completely wrong though of course.

I stayed at the Union Square location back before I had status and found it reasonable. We got a nice high room with a good view. But obviously no access to any perks. Its not really at Union Square (a few blocks to walk) but the location is still good.

Stayed at the Hilton Financial District last September for 8 nights. My partner has Gold status. We were upgraded to an executive level room with harbour view (very nice). Had complimentary full buffet breakfast and two bottles of water daily.
Executive lounge - a bit on the smallish side but fine otherwise (the booths are good). Food was ok at dinner. Have to pay for alcoholic drinks.
Breakfast - good selection of food from the buffet. Quality of the food was average. Could order eggs, waffles and pancakes. Had DIY fresh juice bar. Doughnuts were out of this world good
Location - about 10-15min walk to the pier and ferries and very close to china town. Bit of a walk to shopping district tho.
Service - not bad but not great either.

I would stay here if/when we end up in SFO again. Can't comment on Union Square but it's right in the middle of the shopping district and nearer to public transport (from memory).

Parc 55 is another option. Right on top of Powell Muni/BART station. So location is probably the best of all. Usually you'll get some sort of room upgrade as HH member, but HH Gold "continental breakfast" is pretty average grab and go affair. Diamond get to sit down to the full buffet.

Hilton Union Sq is a large sprawling complex. Slightly further from Powell station. The new tower has views of the Golden Gate Bridge / fog. Diamond gets full buffet breakfast not sure what Gold gets.

Stayed at both in July/Aug last year.
