Hi all! I thought I would make Platinum this year, but now I'm not sure! I would really appreciate your advice.

First, I have 1200. My Qantas page says that I have to earn another 200 before March 31.

Second, I am travelling in a few days, and I thought my fares were in regular premium economy, but I just checked again, and they are in T class, which means discount premium economy. I've added it up, and it looks as though I am 10 SC short!

Finally, my flights back to Australia are on March 31. Does that mean it's too late?

ARGH! Do you have any suggestions? Can I appeal to Qantas?

Flights scheduled to depart on March 31 will count to this year. Do you have time to squeeze one more flight in somewhere?

No use appealing to QF, they don't give you an upgrade in status just because you're close.

Where are you based? There may be a quick status run you can do to tip you over the line.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear the date won't disqualify me. I could possibly do a short trip while I am overseas as a status run. Economy flights on American Airlines should count, right?

Yes, but I think I saw a discussion in another thread that said that the "Basic Economy" fares don't earn anything.

Hmm, when I go to the SC calculator, it shows that they earn 10 SC under "discount economy." Anyone know of anything different?

Will you qualify for a loyalty bonus with those upcoming flights?

No, unfortunately, as I got that when I hit 1000 SC.

But, I think I can do a short trip in the US on AA and just make sure it is in the one of the earning discount economy award categories.

as long as it's not "Basic Economy" - Class 'B'.

Anything other than Basic economy on AA will earn at least 5 SC per segment.

Where are you going in the US? Plenty of day trip opportunities which are short and cheap (LAX: LAS, JFK: DCA/BOS, DFW: IAH)

It's so much easier getting status in the US.
