So, I picked up a second-hand modular wine rack off eBay for a complete steal - with the added bonus of some included wine.

I haven't yet researched them online, thought I'd throw the names up here and see if anyone has any experience with them. Apart from Montara, Jacobs Creek and Peter Lehman, I haven't heard of any of the others.

I have no idea how/where they have been stored.

From L-R in photo:
  • Montara Sauvignon Blanc 2006
  • Bazzani Chardonnay 2004
  • Leydens Vale Chardonnay 2004
  • Jacobs Creek Shiraz Rose 2006
  • Ross Estate Riesling 2005
  • Queen Adelaide Regency Red Shiraz Cabernet 2006
  • Peter Lehman Riesling 2005

If stored well, the Rieslings might be good still. Otherwise, I wouldn't be expecting much from the rest. Crack them and report back.

Yeah, I saw the Rieslings and was all "ooh, I hope they're still good".

I have the next 2 weeks off work so will open them all and report here.

First up, the Montara 2006 Sauvignon Blanc.
Nose: musty and fruity
Taste: metallic and tart

Down the drain immediately.

Second bottle.
Leydens Vale 2004 Chardonnay

I'm not a Chardonnay drinker at all so I don't have any comparisons to make.

Nose: fruity and floral
Taste: Apple, slightly sweet. Tart aftertaste.

I gave this a few more sips, but decided it's destiny was the drain.

Shame it was no good, I'm drinking an '05 (Pirie) Riesling now and it is divine :)

Last bottle
Queen Adelaide Regency Red Shiraz Cabernet 2006

Nose: Distinctly port
Taste: Like cheap port

Down the drain, and wow, I've never seen so much sediment.

Well that was fun.

Wow, seem you have had a bad run. May be all of the wines were sitting int he rack in the sun for the last 10 years?

Who knows. After looking on Vivino and Cellartracker as suggested I wasn't holding my breath for any of them. They were a bonus in the deal, so I'm not bothered
