Hi guys,

I would like some assistance please booking 2x J seats from Melb to Europe in June 2020 on a classic award/points booking.
I say Europe, as ultimately I will need to get to Crete in Greece but I don't mind where we fly into, we will spen 1 or 2 days in whichever city we get into and then take a 2/3/4 hour flight from where we land in Eueope to Crete.

Requirements/Details below:
- Need to leave MEL on 19th June 2020. Can possibly leave 18th June.
- Don't mind going MEL to BRIS/SYD before leaving Aus, provided it is under the same booking
- Happy to fly into Amsterdam, London, Athens, Prague, Budapest, Zurich, Rome or virtually any other major European city.
- Want to be travelling QF, EK, CX or QR. Must have lie-flat not angled lie flat like many EK 777's out of MEL. The newer the hard product the better.
- Stopover length in singapore/hongkong/dubai/doha should ideally be 4 hours or less. Will go longer if that is the only option.
- Have some of these airlines not released seats yet? Which would explain why I can't find any/many with J availability.

Happy to pay the assistance fee by paypal or bank transfer if someone can get me options here

The problem with QF is that you won't be able to access rewards seats being bronze until later, possibly when reward seats are gone. In saying that, given that QF is releasing more award seats, you may be in luck.

My suggestion is to be very flexible on dates and departure points. Are you open to leave from an asian city? For instance, I got x2 J seats return with QR from SIN to Spain, but that meant I was OK with getting to SIN a day earlier on an economy ticket or with points (I got those 5 months prior departure).

Also unsure of your return date, at the moment searching with QF, it's only showing availability until the 25th of June.

Unfortunately I earn lots of points but not SC's as I don't fly enough! Always been bronze but fortunate enough to fly J or F each year.

Only looking to go one way on points from an Aus city to a european one. But the whole flight from aus needs to be J, rather than economy to asia and J from there to europe

1) last week of term 2 - we are dropping that week and flying business with Singapore with 4 of us on points on 18 June and we were on checking hourly and once they dropped booked immediately - all options were going within 10 minutes
2) Bronze QFF you are last in line everyone else with higher status would have taken them
3) honestly if you find seats with a 22hr stop over book it - you can’t be restrictive on these thing

If you are using points why just stick to OW. MU have x 2 J availability MEL-PVG-CDG on 19 Jun.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Looks like EK flights have only loaded to 4 June 2020 so nothing as yet bookable.

Re-positioning May become one of the options and Perth is an option
2xF per to Frankfurt are available in lookin today but none on 19th

It’s 177,000 points so 354.000 for 2 ( for business from Melbourne you’re probably spending a similar amount of points and you can always fly A repositioning flight from Melbourne to Perth earlier in the day time )

Are you firm on those airlines only, or is it just you need to use QFF points? There's an option with QF, CX and BA - unfortunately with some longer layovers (most of the day in HKG, and 4.5 hours in DXB). 173000 points per person (346000 for two). This would allow you to leave on the evening of the 18th (assuming that your "can possibly leave on 18th" means that you need to leave late on the 18th), and arrive in LHR in the morning of the 20th. There's a long enough stopover in HKG for you to go to town.

Thankyou for everyone's input.

I have managed to find a way that gets us there, and within my points balance (forgot to mention I only had 300k or so points available to spend and didn't want to pay to top up).

I didn't think about using a multi-city option which turns out was quite easy. Getting to DXB from MEL seems to be next to impossible for me being bronze (all J gone by the time I can see availability). But getting to HKG from MEL had availability if I left one week earlier. Which is a compromise I'll make for good flights with good layover times. Crete will now be at the end of my trip instead of the start.
