On Thursday 24 January 2019, as at 1630 at Adelaide Airport, it was 43.9 degrees, but earlier had been 44.6.

Melbourne Airport was not a lot cooler, and recently PER has been hot as well.

The airport baggage handlers may be 'big boys' and because of building and aircraft shadows, won't be directly in the sun every moment outdoors, but the mass concrete of airport tarmacs must be a heat radiator.

Apart from rotating duties, provision of cool water, sensible clothing and so on, how do these fellows cope with manually unloading or loading B738s and other planes in such oppressive conditions?

I thought this thread was about finding comfort as a passenger.

A couple of weeks ago in the Sakura lounge at NRT, I swear it was 27C or more. And we'd just rushed through security and customs and to the lounge (because hubby gets hangry), and it was really unpleasant. There were a couple of kids running around and normally I'd be really annoyed by that, but this time I was encouraging it because they were creating a breeze every time they ran past me!

Anyway, on topic, It wouldn't surprise me if underneath the shade of the main buildings, it was comparatively cool because the buildings themselves would be cool. But I imagine they rotate duties and have strategies in place.
