It looks like Hawaiian airlines has similar seating in J class to Jetstars StarClass. Considering their are special for both airlines from time to time which one is the better product out of the 2?

I haven't flown J on Hawaiian, but have flown Y which I imagine to be similar to Jetstar Y. For the same price I would risk Hawaiian J over *class just to see.

My experience of Hawaiian is that it's codeshare with AirBogan, same as Jetstar.

recent Hawaiian experience pretty mortifying
every aspect geriatric
Hawaiian lounges nothing more than bus shelters
total experience only valid if you get cheapest fare
and are going on to US port eg Phoenix,
therefore bypassing LA.
On return from Phoenix, with 1.5 hrs on ground,
the same plane flew on to Syd.
(allegedly more often than not the case)
although booking this flight on net,
you are not enabled to do this connection,
due to "inadequate " time on ground,
although the connection seemingly can be made
by travel agent.
If that connection works, which it did for us,
then the route and carrier are useful,
otherwise despite the pleasure of the staff,
can't say I would repeat the experience.

I've flown Hawaiian J (they call it "First") to HNL and Jetstar * class many times to Osaka and Narita. Hawaiian in J felt very small to me but when I looked at seat pitch tables it is supposed to be way bigger than Jetstar *class. So either the tables are wrong or I was having spatial hallucinations when I was on the Hawaiian flight.

Neither is a wonderful product IMO but I'd go with Jetstar * class.
