LAX to SYD taxes for Business Reward are still showing $42.12 for me on the dates I tried, perhaps an error on the particular date you searched for?

Re: have Velocity put up there award taxes??is this a mistake or are they copying Qan

I am using a mac air and a mac desktop .
searched every day from mid november till end jan and when avail that was the price . not sure if i have some weird cookies
i couldn't believe it as SYD LAX is still $112 or some such
just re checked still the same. you can tell there is something wrong as the points only option is way up at 171200.
I know macs are a pain in the A but this is ridiculous
waiting for points to arrive in account to book think ill use a PC

Sorry I was searching return flights which are unchanged (and also using a Mac). You're right, on one way flights the taxes are showing $501.32. Perhaps phone up and ask for a price, seems strange the taxes are so much more on a one way. Hopefully just an error.

That is quite odd

Other way around serfty, issue only seems to arise for one ways originating at LAX.

If you actually get all the way to the payment page, the total taxes are $42.12. Even though it says ~$500 up front

I am also see the site behave as such... again showing the poor quality of VA's IT.

I cant get that far as the points are not in there yet.
thank goodness its not just me!!!

Re: have Velocity put up there award taxes??is this a mistake or are they copying Qan

It is not a Mac issue,... The VA IT dept has struck again it seems...definitely reverts to $42.12 at payment page

Re: have Velocity put up there award taxes??is this a mistake or are they copying Qan

LOL! VA and QF outsourced IT to same company?

i am thinking all these gurus are tarred with the one brush. They need someone like us checking and balancing!

Similar happened to me a week ago. My EWR-MEL J itinerary showed taxes at $529. When I called Customer Service (Manila) to ask a question, they told me taxes were $572, but then we she did a dummy booking, it came out as $60... and indeed, when I went through to the final payment page for my booking, it was only $60 (and 20 cents). Of course, my QF flight in Y to the US had $410 in taxes/surcharges, and they didn't shrink at all when I got to the payment page.

Is your existing EWR-MEL itinerary a revenue or award booking? IIRC, VA charge YQ on revenue bookings.

It was a reward booking on all steps in the booking process.

Odd. The $60ish figure sounds more correct then..

Copping this on a one way LAX to SYD award enquiry. Showing $471 in taxes per award. Did a search regarding fees hike and found this thread. Hoping it will return to a more palatable $60. There are 4 of us!

Website is wrong...... Once you select the flights and continue up to payment screen it is heaps less

I booked a few months ago for June LAX - SYD in J and paid $42.12 tax

Phew. I was trying to stomach $1884 worth of taxes!

But on another note. Where have all the awards gone? I booked this same trip 12 months ago with only about 5 months notice to when I wanted to travel and there were loads of awards. Now Im chasing them as they are released day by day by Virgin at max time out.
