I have a return J flight booked from BNE - AMS on Cathay Pacific at the end of the year. Im looking forward to trying the new A350 from BNE - HKG. Has anyone spent a lot of time on this plane?
In recent years I have done the yearly trip to AMS on QF1/British airways but every year the transfer at Heathrow seems to get more and more annoying and as much as I like the idea of an Australian airline I just can't be bothered anymore. Therefore, I have decided to give Cathay a go this year. It is a bit of a long stop over in HKG but at least I only have 1 stopover instead of going BNE-SYD-DXB-LHR-AMS.

So seeing as this is my first step away from Qantas on international I'm just curious about peoples general experience on Cathay but more specifically I'm interested in reports/opinions on the A350

Thanks

going to be on the SQ A350 in J in a few days. I understand the hard product suffers from (relatively) restricted foot space. I'll be sure to ensure the soft makes up for it :)

Andy, will be trying CX J product in June. My usual J product is either Qantas or Emirates, so like you a venture out of my comfort zone, will let you know in July my thoughts on the A350 CX product.

well, it was good. The "small" cubby for the feet wasn't so bad at all. Slept very comfortably and didn't feel like my feet were constricted.
The diagonal positioning of the cubby, however, meant that to put your feet up when sitting means being angled across the seat.

Ignoring differences across airline fits, the A350 is a very decent aircraft, and will, I think, become AB's best effort.

Had my first A350 flight with AY on 5/4 and it was great. Similar J seats to CX, and the open cabin environment gave a very different feel. Great flight overall.

You'll enjoy the trip, and probably wonder why you ever bothered with Qantas/British Airways.
The new Cathay Business seat on the 350s is almost identical to British Airways first class seat.

Especially with the new J class offerings and modifications to service delivery coming to CX soon, it'll be even more comparable to BA F. If you're travelling late in the year, hopefully you'll get to enjoy the new service.

The CX A350 is great, but definitely avoid seats 11D/G!

On CX 350 in J from Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. Nice bit of metal, good seats and a really attentive crew. Fantastic IFE with excellent choices. Puts QF to shame!!! Yes definitely AVOID 11D/G. Try 20A/K nice smaller area.

Any opinions on 12D/G? Travelling as a couple, and like the middle row. Have sampled the A330, B777 and A340 (thankfully now gone).

Have 12D/G allocated for HKG-DUS overnight, but can move further back if recommended, but from previous experience was guessing that one row back would be ample buffer.
