Has anyone stayed at Hilton London Kensington?
I am planning a stay in London in October this year. Hilton London Kensington appears to have reasonable pricing at that time. Has anyone stayed there? Stay for 2 adults preferably with breakfast.
I would love to have some AFF opinions.

Kensington can be a really good location. We used to stay at Hilton Canary Wharf and that worked ok.We could upgrade for about £9 to get a suite and all day lounge access. Have not stayed at the Hilton you are asking about.

Stayed there in 2011 as a family, and again in 2013 as a couple. Rooms are fine, unless you get a broom-cupboard sized one. Try to get a room overlooking the park, otherwise the view will be rather bland. Breakfasts are very good. Staff and concierge generally quite good.

Assuming that nothing much has changed since then, it'd still be on my short list if I wanted to stay in London again.

A short walk will get you to Shepherd's Bush underground and overground stations, and a few more steps will get you to a large Westfield shopping centre with assorted eateries inside and out.

Stayed there in 2013 the rooms can be pokey and it's an older place. But location location location. Have fun

I guess if you get allocated a converted broom closet you can ask for a room change.

It happened to Me and i did try and change the room please sir, "sorry busy time" excuse :(

I've probably stayed here 8 times between 2004-2014. I started by staying in the cheaper room, found the bed rock hard, housemaid cleaning cupboard across from room, noisy with chatter. I then changed to executive room with access to executive lounge for brekky & evening drinks & niblies. King size bed, very comfy, combined shower/bath, good bench space bathroom sink, no noise from next room.

Over the years I've noticed a difference in food offerings in the lounge, but IMO, still adequate. Overall, staff are generally helpful.

Front desk staff as a whole know what they are doing, you can tell recent staff are not as knowledgable. One of my stays I booked the room the night before landing to gain access after early arrival. Upon arrival, this wasn't the case but sorted within the hour & access to lounge to wait.

In my hilton profile, I ask for high room away from elevator. I generally have room at back of hotel, prefer this to facing front, can be noisy with police or ambulance sirens, still somewhat with window closed. Have seen some nice fireworks from room around Guy Falks night. Very close walk to Notting Hill (enjoy reading real estate properties), also close to Kensington Gardens.

i think it cost between £10-12 in 2014 from Paddington station for taxi. I've walked it previously but choose not to again after long haul flight.

i will be in London in October, travelling with my daughter. Unfortunately not at hotel of my choice, airbnb this time, won't seem the same. Thankfully still in similar area.

Stayed there once in early 2014.

They overcharged my card on checkout and before I'd signed they had already approved the signature. They refunded the incorrect amount but it took weeks to be redeposited into my account.

Other than that, the rooms are nice and the location is good. If it's a good price, thumbs up from me.

parsonstrish, what made you decide to use airbnb for your accommodation?
I have looked at the airbnb website but didn't find anything I was keen on.
I am also travelling with my daughter.

Interesting the comments about location, that's one of the reasons we've never stayed there, that plus comparable rates at properties a bit closer in (although recognising that Metropole and Hyde Park properties are not that much closer). Maybe have to try it one day.

We have stayed at Metropole and Paddington. Metropole had a bomb scare when we we there so we changed after that to Canary Wharf. Edgware Road station was targeted so we have not been back.

I've stayed here around 10 years ago, so my opinion is pretty dated. It's an average UK hilton - not good, not bad. Rooms can be small, and no amount of fixing up or refurbishment will resolve that.

Agree about the sirens at night, it is in a very busy area, and there will be sirens quite a bit during the night. But TBH any Hilton in London will also have siren noise at times.

Location wise, I also agree it's in a good spot.

The last 18 months I've moved away from Hilton due to cost & now airbnb. I only choose investment apartments. Chose London accommodation near Hyde Park. I saw others I liked but didn't accept bookings too far ahead. I read the reviews which help me in my decision. I've booked a unique tiny house architect designed in Dublin when I visit there, quite excited. Part of the floor is glass. I've only had good experiences with airbnb.

the other reason for not booking the Hilton, my daughter said she wouldn't pay the price. ;)
