Hi, I'm a reporter with the Herald Sun, Telegraph, Courier-Mail, news.com.au and so on.

I'm working on a story about how the value of credit card rewards have been slashed, but savvy consumers are getting their own back by gaming frequent flyer systems so successfully they are, for example, going Business Class to Europe for the price of an economy fare. I was told this by Australian Frequent Flyer's Clifford Reichlin.

I'd be very keen to speak to people who have done this and those who have found other ways to get more out of rewards schemes and frequent flyer schemes.

If you'd like to be part of the story, which will be published Saturday Feb 15, please email me on john.rolfeATSYMBOLnews.com.au (this site won't let me use @ because I'm a first-time poster!). To speed things up it would help if you included your best contact phone number.

Thanks, John

John, welcome.

Unfortunately a lot of these secrets are closely guarded. When they enter the public domain certain routings etc quickly cease to exist.

I may be the only one asking but, please don't publish such an article!

Cheers
Nate

Hi John
The last thing we want is these tricks and tips being published in the mass media. I doubt anyone on this site will divulge much but please don't ruin the deals by telling everyone. My personal opinion is if every Tom, Dick and Harry wanted to know this as much as we do they would be on here as part of our community rather than lazily scrolling through a news.com website.

How has the value of credit card rewards been slashed? I'm still getting 1.5 pts / $, same as I was 5 years ago...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Mr Flynn said you can get in to the Qantas First-Class lounge at Sydney or Melbourne airport for the cost of a Jetstar fare between the two cities, provided you have “platinum” Frequent Flyer status

Hard to see what use this sort of tip is. If you're WP you presumably already know how you can access the F lounge and if you're not then how does knowing this help at all?

Oh wait, David Flynn, sorry.. carry on!
