Hi Guys,

Received the following offer in my inbox today - I don't expect it would be targeted.

your points. Your next getaway is closer than you think.

Poor value as always given the points can be bought for USD$30 per 5000, but if you have not got any points it would be handy to get that 5K in the account so you can buy them cheaper when required, and a new pointsbreak list is on the horizon.

Buy Points

Buying Points is the easy way to top up your account to get the award you want!

You may purchase points in 1,000 increments:

  • 1,000 - 10,000 points for $13.50 per 1,000 points
  • 11,000 - 25,000 points for $12.50 per 1,000 points
  • 26,000 - 50,000 points for $11.50 per 1,000 points

Could be a useful for a top-up.

What do people think of the earn rate / $ ?

Book an award night using points plus pay, then cancel and the pay component gets put back into your account as points!

Got it thanks, I think you shared this with us before.

I was thinking about a points plus pay at HI Vanuatu so maybe I might test it on such a booking.

I assume the points also get put back to your account as well ?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Check the rates before going ahead, some rewards bookings do have cancel fees!

I heard some people had accounts cancelled for farming points this way.

At least if you're going to do it, make a string of "logical" looking bookings, or very far ahead (then cancel them when you need the points).

I have not heard of any issues, of course that does not mean one should be a bull in a china shop, despite it being legal and legit (as in not against terms and conditions).

I guess the key is to be reasonable about it, plans change in life.

Kinda like the bloke who got a stack of QFF points in the NAB loophole, 1 cent transactions I believe ......

Isn't that slightly more expensive these days ( though still cheaper than this offer)

Must admit that last time someone wrote they'd heard of this I went looking and didn't find one first hand account. not sure it's not just a rumour or people trying to scare us off to keep this deal for themselves!!

No one has posted it on Flyertalk - which is quite unusual since you'd think that's a sure fire conversation starter - so for me it's just been do or private banter (usually 2nd or 3rd hand, so it could've been manufactured).

Of course, some say Priority Club has a temperament like no other, and people have found their accounts locked down, audited or closed for no apparent reason except sudden injections of points or an unusual string of bookings.
