Can anyone shed light onto why QF impose YQ on domestic redemptions, despite not imposing it on domestic commercial tickets? I just booked a business reward and this is the breakdown on the e-ticket (from Amadeus EITR):

FORM OF PAYMENT
FAREAUD0
TAXAUD28.00YQ/AUD20.48QR/AUD11.06WG/AUD5.96UO
TOTAL: AUD 65.50
FARE CALCULATIONBNE QF SYD0.00QF BNE0.00AUD0.00END
ENDORSEMENT/RESTRICTIONS

As you can see, there's $28 of YQ in there.

The same flights on ITA matrix, show taxes as:

Australian Goods & Services Tax (UO)
A$129.85
Australian Safety & Security Surcharge (WG)
A$11.06
Australian Domestic Passenger Service Charge (QR)
A$10.24
Australian Domestic Passenger Service Charge (QR)
A$10.24

YQ is not collected. GST (UO) is higher due to the base fare attracting GST. Otherwise the other taxes are identical...

Any ideas??? Red Roo?

Someone who understands this better will probably correct me, but I thought YQ got rolled into the base fares recently, which is why you are not seeing it the commercial fare breakdown. The assumption was that is was removed from FF redemptions...... apparently this is not the case!
