Just went to book JQ for BNE-SYD and noticed the left side front row are being sold as Exit Row extra legroom at $25 pp additional whereas the right side front row are just Near The Front seats at $12pp additional. Seatguru shows both sides as being extra legroom so does anyone know why the right hand three are not being charged as such?

there is a bulkhead on the right restricting legroom. on the left your legs have unlimited space as the door is there with no bulkhead

Correct - left hand side 1ABC seats has main entry door in front so more legroom but also garanteed getting your feet trampled upon and every piece of carryon baggage banged into 1Cs head, also not much overhead bin space due to crew luggage and equipment.

Right hand side 1DEF more protected but tbe seat pitch only a few more inches than standard and possibly limited overhead bin space.

Better than a standard seat but maybethats it.

... and today after takeoff, unoccupied row 1 and exit seats on 3K, SIN-KUL were spruiked at SGD32 each - it was a 35 minute flight!

Not to mention Row 1 on 3K has a bulkhead both sides in many planes.

This one had the 1D/E/F bulkhead ... It also had the curved up winglets at the end of the wings (al la 73H) rather than the normal (/old?) A320 [-]vanes[/-] sharklets.

They seem to have dropped the 1a-c bulkhead on new deliveries including the sharklets.

It depends how tall are you and how much extra legroom you need to feel comfortable. I always choose 1D on Dom flights. It has more legroom then standard seat at half of the cost of exit row, good enough for short flights IMO.

That's just about $1 per minute for extra leg room. Interestingly, it's also $32SGD for longer flights such as SIN-HKG.

The newest A320s have the B738-style winglets. For short-haul flights, I'm guessing that the fuel savings would be just enough to offset the extra weight from them.

Sorry to bring up this old thread but does anyone actually know what the pitch is for the 3K birds in row 1 where there is a bulkhead on 1A-C?

I don't have the measurements, but you most definitely won't be able to stretch your legs.

Not to mention you get saturated in 1A if it's raining and no aerobridge.

I think flight attendants sit in front of row 1 facing passengers.

They do and you can't stretch your legs properly during takeoff and landing. Also pax waiting to use the toilet will stand right in front of you.
I prefer the exit rows in the middle of the plane.

I've never sat in a a320 on jq with the bulkheads on 1a-c it was always on 1d-f.

The JQ A320s don't have the bulkhead on 1A-C. I just can't remember whether the 3K birds have the bulkhead on that side or not.
