Frequent travellers please - LHR to JFK on AA107 reliability?

We are taking AA107 flight LHR to JFK and I need to book an internal flight; preferably the same night we arrive.

Anyone regularly fly this route and is it on time? Understand the vagaries, fine print, issues, etc but if I could get a 7/10,8/10 etc of on time performance I can start making plans for same day or next day bookings.

Or is there some website here that tells me this?

As for your situation, need to know

1- are you booking the same airline or same ticket for the 2nd flight ?
2- how long do you have between flights ?
3- AU passport or other?
4- what class will you be in ?

You can check FlightAware which tracks a lot of flights and records the arrival time for the past fortnight at least. Won't be a score out of 10, but it's not bad.

Thanks folks. Average is on time for past week so that is good.

I suppose the crud US Customs will kill off the plan, last time I think it took about 2 hours to get past their interrogations.

The ETA of 107 appears to be 2005 so you have 1.35 hrs to play with.


One way to check is make a dummy booking for the flights online to see if they are sold as a valid connection - if they do you should be OK - if not - book another flight!
Being in Business class will help as you will be one of the first off- as long as you walk fast and don't stop off shopping.

Even though a separate booking , request AA tag your bags to final destination and ask for boarding pass to be issued

my recent trips into USA gateways (JFK and LAX) I have been able to get from aircraft to outside under 30mins on a AU passport

A year ago we were on 107.It was cancelled and we rerouted via MIA so arrived the next day.Unfortunately you just cant predict which will be the day things go pear shaped.

AA has a policy that it will protect you, even on separate tickets, if you are flying oneworld airlines. (The protection will presumably be even stronger if connecting AA->AA.)

I would preferably be leaving at least 2-3 hours between connecting flights in the USA. But as williamsf1 points out - do a dummy booking and see if the AA107->your proposed flight shows as a valid connection.
