After considering the new enhancements and the points of view in that amazing thread plus my own circumstances I reckon the changes are to make the program more FF than loyalty.

Red Roo has stated there are over 7.8million FF members. Most I suspect are like me - collecting points via shopping, credit card, occasional flights etc.
Collecting points and hoping to get a 'free' holiday or an upgrade from economy. But could not be classed as a Frequent Flyer.

The base loyalty bonus going seems to me to be harsh for bronze members like me as i will never get the status credits in one year to get to the new level.

So is Qantas now saying the program is really for Frequent flyers and those that wish to benefit get their loyalty rewards from partners (eg woolies, optus, restuarants etc) and credit cards and thus the change to the loyalty bonus scheme?

Red Roo any comment?

I will choose Qantas when ever I can because i like the full service and feel i'm in good hands and get points and have had an upgrade to premium in the last month on points and still have about 180,000 after 2 years - never got to loyalty bonus but credit card, shopping a couple of domestic flights and 2 o/seas flights in the 2 years have seen points grow.

BTW - Woodville should have never merged with West Torrens - go the Peckers!

The program was (and is) still a FF scheme.

Yes, you get points for spend but you don't earn the status credits for actually flying, which is what gets you to the next level.

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure that reading through here and asking questions will provide you a lot of answers.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

QF FF = Qantas Frequent Flyers who pay QF for the benefits they receive or not for their frequent spend of THEIR dollars on FLYING from Point A to Point B. If the QF FFs perceive the benefits they receive for the dollars they spend are reduced, then they will move THEIR dollar spend to other carriers who deliver better benefits for the dollar spent than QF does.

Nothing personal or nationalistic. Just business.

I still think the biggest winner out of all this "loyalty" stuff is the banks. We often refer to QFF as the Frequent Spender program, but I still think the banks are the ones to gain the most from the "Frequent Debtor" encouragement of those addicted to miles/points or the expectation that sometime in the future I may be regarded as a true "Frequent Something" and be able to flash my ???ium membership card around at parties or lounge foyers and be made to feel like I have arrived (now please tell me I qualify for arrivals lounge access!).

I'm with you. Flash the WP card on arrivals at any available QF lounge for access and I'm yours. At least until I shower and freshen up. Or is it that QF think we don't stink after 12+ hours on a long haul international flight. I mean we don't even get "In Bound Express Cards" unless we (Golds and WPs) ASK several times for them.

So QF, what about international / domestic arrival lounge access (to have a shave / shower) and Express In Bound Passes? Not that hard to costly.

As a Qantas Platinum FF member (WP) you do have access to Qantas Club lounges upon arrival from domestic flights. For international flights its not so simple since there are no One World international arrivals lounges on Australia. But if a QF WP member was in transit at an Australian international terminal, they would still have access to the business class lounge at that locations. QF WP members should be provided inbound express cards on international flights. I certainly have had this experience. This is not generally provided to Gold members.

I always pick up my inbound express card n departure from the F check in. I rarely use them and have about 6 at home.

Actually, upon arrival from Same Day¹ International flights, QP members are permitted access to domestic lounges.

This is very simple in ADL & MEL, no so in SYD, PER & BNE.

¹The flight needs to departing and/or arriving on the same day for access.

Do you usually ask on the flight or in the lounge before departure?

(Adelaide not so great for outbound express cards either - never had them handed to me when I was WP, unless I was catching a Tokyo flight from Sydney.)
