Free flight AMEX Velocity Platinum card question

Hey guys,

I am an AMEX Velocity Plat cardholder, and i am about to book the free return domestic flight which comes with the card.
Once i booked it over the phone, can i edit the flight dates and add other extras into the booking ? (ie. Purchase extra baggage allowance ?)

You can make changes to flight times/dates, although I'm not sure you would want to. Here are the T&Cs from a recent booking I made (in May this year):

Changes: Permitted at least 24 hours prior to scheduled departure:
A. A standard charge of AUD80 for Domestic bookings & AUD100 for Tasman bookings will be levied by Virgin Australia.
B. A service fee of AUD27.00 per person will be charged by American Express for all changes.
C. Fare may be used as a credit towards payment of an equal or higher ticket value provided conditions of the new fare have been met. Any higher fare difference will be paid by card member in addition to the airline and service fees.

On day of departure Changes are not permitted. Fare is forfeited.

I assume you can also pay for extra baggage, but bear in mind you will already get 23kg checked luggage plus normal carry on allowance for free, and if you have VA status you will also get the normal additional allowance.

As for the extra luggage allowance, i am looking into it, since i will be returning from Japan into Sydney first, before continuing my journey home to Melbourne. (I expect some hefty shopping being done )

I've found the AMEX travel people to be pretty helpful, but note that you have to make any changes including selecting a seat through them - you can access but cannot amend the booking online via the VA/Velocity site. You get 3 bags already as platinum... so that's a serious amount of shopping if you need more! ;-)

This thread reminded me to check my free flight bookings from AMEX on VA. Just now via my Velocity I was able to choose my seats and paid extra for a couple of Y+ seats.

I've found the AMEX travel people to be pretty helpful, but note that you have to make any changes including selecting a seat through them - you can access but cannot amend the booking online via the VA/Velocity site. You get 3 bags already as platinum... so that's a serious amount of shopping if you need more! ;-)

Thanks again for the replies ! I am not a Virgin Australia Platinum member . (The credit card is platinum, not my flying status ) So that is why i am considering purchasing more baggage allowance. I will also ask the call centre if i can amend my booking myself.
