Not trying to talk anyone out of using Coinbase (I actually use them), but please be aware that in Australia, Coinbase can only be used for buying. You cannot sell through them at the moment. You can of course transfer you funds elsewhere to sell or use for purchasing goods and services. As well as Bitcoin, you can by Litecoin and Ether.

That's a good point. Plenty of AU wallets you can transfer to though including CoinJar.

Speaking of Coinbase, rumour is they will be supporting Ripple this month.
