Does anyone think Qantas will react and do something similar for status credits from shopping at Woolies?

They have been dumping a lot of points lately. Make a complaint and tell them you're not happy with something they've done and expect 1000 points to keep you happy. Recently got 5,000 points for one of their stuff ups.

The QF points were hte only reason I was shopping at Woolies...........off I go to the competition now.........

I don't think Qantas needs more status members. They are currently trying to reduce the number of status members on their books.

At this point I think that Woolworths/Qantas still have the edge. The earn rate is better - 1 point per $1, albeit only above $30 spend, compared to 0.4 points per $1 with Flybuys/EY.

Coles offering Etihad tier miles is a plus, but they are only really useful if you're already a regular EY flyer. (Or crediting all your VA/other partner flights to EY.) Nobody is going to make top tier EY status based purely on their Coles spend.

Qantas is much more relevant to Australian consumers too. I doubt very much that the majority of Flybuys customers will even know what to do with Etihad Guest miles.

Not sure that is the case. Is true they want people that have status to have contributed revenue though :)

Well EDR and QFF are dead and buried from 31 December so not much point now.

Members told us what they really want is money off their shopping, so we’ve changed points for Woolworths Dollars!

On Wednesday, Everyday Rewards will become Woolworths Rewards. ......

This means your existing member rewards are changing. You can continue to earn Qantas Points through Woolworths Rewards, but only until 31 December 2015

All's not lost yet. Qantas has sent out an update to say it's working with WOW on a new partnership

"We would like to let you know that whilst Woolworths are changing their rewards program, Qantas Points can still be earned with Everyday Rewards as per today until 31 December 2015. We are working with Woolworths on a new partnership from 2016, and will keep you posted. "

Hate to not be able to earn QFF points for groceries (without using the CC).

I don't want to be spiteful, but if they remove the points from Woolworths rewards as is the case from 31st December, I'll ditch the Woolies CC also and loom for another alternative, or just use my Amex at Woolies :) I suspect there will be an option like they do on fuel. I have my points going to FF, not on a fuel discount. Now whether we'll still get 1:1 I'm guessing is unlikely. Probably something like 0.5 QFF for 1 Woolies point. But assuming QFF gets a new deal done.

Its making it easy for me to change though :) Onl;y had the WOW CC for quick fuel purchases also and they removed the pay at pump and if they remove points, I'll change cards.

If you have a true credit card, not the VisaDebit variety, you will still be able to earn QFF rewards.
Its just us muppets who either don't or can't get a true VisaCredit card that are out.

What are Qantas going to offer?

QFF Customer service that cares.
Chance to get QFF award seats on school holidays.
Some kind of status accrual so Qantas "nothings" have a chance at international upgrades.

I'd be surprised Qantas will come up with anything.

Had a look at Woolworths Rewards, (WR) its so much like Coles Flybuys Money (FBM) now.
I live close to a Coles, ... but WR now individual, so thats good for some people I know who only use the card (old EDR) to earn QFF by sharing.
Now, no sharing allowed.
1 person, 1 card.
EY needs us to provide them with our personal details though, if we want to earn EY FF points and EY SC, ie, more joining (form filling).

The big losers are the ones who use the EDR card for QFF points which is most of us.
Yep, have jumped on the "Contact Us" page and let them know I'll be ceasing my weekly trip to WOW and cancelling the Platinum Card. Hopefully if enough people do something similar it might convince them to keep QF involved.

What a wonderful predicament. Too many regular/loyal customers.
Didn't want to start yet another cheap status thread. Qantas would like people to earn their status where Qantas has received their budgetted revenue for that status. Was mentioned quite nicely by basso a few posts below your quote.
