I've mostly travelled with Qantas in the past and was a silver frequent flyer. With all the changes I'm now considering other airlines but having no experience with them thought I'd ask here for recommendations.

I have to to fly into Frankfurt from Sydney and then will be flying home from Amsterdam.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Seat comfort in economy is important as I have some joint trouble.

Thanks

Mel

There are LOTS of options between Australia and Europe. I guess it depends which is most important to you, price, schedule, comfort, ability to earn frequent flyer points or a midi of the above. Qantas/Emirates is still not a bad option. With the recent changes you may get less points, however the number of SCs should stay the same, meaning this won't affect your ability to re-qualify as a silver FF.

If comfort is your main concern, then other than Qantas I would suggest having a look at Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and perhaps British Airways, Qatar and Lufthansa (who partner with Singapore Air). Note that this is not an exhaustive list (and some people may disagree with me)!

If your main concern is price, consider Vietnam Airlines or one of the Chinese carriers.

I would be looking at paying for an exit row seat if comfort is your priority. Plenty of reading will help you find what suits you but I remember I got great value out of a Y seat upstairs on a SQ 380

I recommend Singapore Airline as your best option - great airline and comfort, service, entertainment and food in economy is always good. You can get an open jaw ticket into Frankfurt and they fly out of Amsterdam. It is one stop to and from Australia. Rb mentioned the 380 but they don't use the 380 out of Amsterdam, not sure about Frankfurt.

SQ26 SIN-FRA (which happens to go on to New York) is an A380. This would connect well with another SQ flight from Sydney and is probably your best option.

Plenty of choices. I'd choose an airline where you can pay for an exit or bulkhead row. Paying $100 or so for those seats is well worth it if one is travelling in economy.

Thanks everyone. Will definitely look at exit row options. It's great to have somewhere to start with a few suggestions.
