I am currently platinum. I generally don't fly enough for WP and am quite happy with SG, so knowing I wasn't going to fly much this membership year, I did a status run for WP in October 2015, knowing it would lapse to SG in Oct 2016 - which was my aim

My review date is 13 Oct 2016, and I've booked international J departing 13 Oct 2016 - will those SC points go towards my new SG membership year?

I figured seeing as my account currently says "status credits earned since 13 Oct 2015", that my new membership year will say "status credits earned since 13 Oct 2016" and that my J flight will be counted for next year

Can anyone confirm?

It should count for the following year as your status is zeroed on the review date which I would take as 00.01 on the review date. https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/ProgramBenefits/HowItWorks/

Takes a few days to be credited anyway.

I'm not that familiar with the VFF program; what do you mean "status is zeroed on the review date"? (Genuine question :) ). I note from the link supplied:

[h=4]How is my Status Credit balance calculated?[/h]Your Status Credit balance is calculated daily based on the number of Status Credits earned in the previous 12 months. Every Status Credit you earn is valid for 12 months and your Status Credit balance will not be reset to zero at your review date. To view your Status Credit balance, log in to your Velocity account.

Also I think the time that Status Credits appear is irrelevant; its the date earned that is material.

On the review date your status balance will go to 0 (zero).

I would say your Virgin 'Year' is 13Oct-12Oct... so SCs (for renewal of current status) are reset on the morning of 13Oct and thus 13 Oct counts for a new year.

Note however that unlike QF, VA uses a rolling 12-mth calendar for going up levels... at which point a new 'Year' is created

So for OP
Presumably went over 1000 SCs on 13 Oct 2015.
This means
Plat 13 Oct 2015 - 12 Oct 2016
Gold 13 Oct 2016 - 12 Oct 2017

Say the OP did nothing then 350 SCs in Aug 2017.
Not enough to requl Gold (400) in Oct 2017

Thus would drop to
Silver 13 Oct 2017- 12Oct 2018
but if they picked up another 150SCs on say 1 Jan 2018 - then in the rolling 12m they have 500SCs.
Thus become
Gold 1 Jan 2018-31Dec 2018

So depending on your flying patterns, you can recover status fairly quickly after dropping.

The reset of date stops the QF attitude of starting to credit to another program once reaching status (albeit only once)

This means
Plat 13 Oct 2015 - 12 Oct 2016
Gold 13 Oct 2016 - 12 Oct 2017

Thanks, yes that's what I was banking on, dropping to Gold on 13 Oct 2016 and then requal SG by 12 Oct 2017
