We're off to the NZ West coast in March for a long weekend to visit my partner's family and to partake in the Wild Foods Festival. We were very happy to see that CHC has returned to Qantas' Brisbane schedule so booked our tickets.

We're now going to be in CHC in early Feb as we'll be leaving a cruise there. I used the QF app last night to book tickets home on the new direct CHC-BNE flight and noticed that it said something along the lines of 'this fight is awaiting regulatory approval for flights commencing 27 March 2017'.

How have we managed to book these three flights if they aren't approved? Could they just disappear on us?

In the unlikely even "regulatory approval" for these flights is not granted, Qantas would normally offer alternative routing at no cost.

Thanks Serfty. What will be will be. The oddest thing is the start date mentioned below the new CHC figs but we've booked in February and earlier in March than March 27.

Same same for flights to Japan, I think it's a tag that sits on the screen no matter what date you book.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not sure how it works, maybe the airlines are allowed to begin operating on a provisional basis until full approval is granted (or denied).
