Well the time has come for me to venture into the world of writing my first trip report, after some good advice on here we are ticketed on a DONE4 via American Airlines in Australia.

The plan with the trip was to be in New York for Christmas and Paris for New Years Eve. I am making a short status credit run/tourist trip to SFO in the middle.

The route is
BNE-SYD;
SYD-NRT-JFK-MIA-DFW-SFO-DFW-LAX-JFK-CDG-LHR-SIN-BNE;
BNE-PER-ADL-SYD

BNE-SYD is on points to position in Sydney so that I can take BNE-PER-ADL-SYD sometime next year for some status credits.

The airlines/aircraft breakdown as:
BNE-SYD, Qantas Boeing 737-400
SYD-NRT, Japan Airlines Boeing 747-400
NRT-JFK, Japan Airlines Boeing 777-300 (looking forward to their Flatbed Neo service)
JFK-MIA, American Airlines
MIA-DFW, American Airlines Boeing 757
DFW-SFO, American Airlines Boeing 767-300 (2 class)
SFO-DFW, American Airlines McDonnell Douglas Super MD-80(S80)
DFW-LAX, American Airlines 737-800
LAX-JFK, American Airlines 767-200
JFK-CDG, American Airlines 767-300 (3 class)
CDG-LHR, British Airways Airbus A320
LHR-SIN, British Airways Boeing 747-400
SIN-BNE, Qantas Airbus A330

I tried to fly on as many different types of aircraft in the planning of the trip.

In term of QFF points/status I calculate I will make QF platinum on arrival in LAX moving up from gold which I have been on for the past 3 years. My renewel date falls after arrival in CDG before leaving to return to BNE via LHR and SIN.

Trip report equipment includes
• Moleskine Volant Notebooks
• Canun Ixus Camera
• Macbook Pro Laptop

Were off tomorrow morning on the 5:20am flight to Sydney after a Christmas party tonight so will be a early early start tomorrow.

Stay tuned for more – tomorrow is BNE-SYD-NRT.

Have fun and enjoy the good life.

Just rode the new JAL 777-300 from HKG to NRT as there was an aircraft subsitution. The main cabin is huge with J all lumped togeather. I was in 11A and it was very comfortable. The pillow though is rubbish and ask the FA for an additional one if you can.

I would recommend being closer to the front as service is from the front. The galley is upfront so the first row would be a little loud. I think that anywhere between row 8-12 would be quite acceptable. Note that there are three seats accross the middle of the aircraft so work hard not to get a middle seat. It appears that these are the last seats filled as my flight had every other seat filled bar the middle ones.

The food is always quite good on JL but go for the Japanese menu. It is usual very fresh though may contain things you don't recognise. Don't worry about this and eat it all anyway! Travel is about new things and this is great opertunity to do it with the assistance of a menu in english.

If you are a WP by the time you get to LHR get a print out of your statement to obtain access to T5 First Lounge. It is great but don't hold your breath as the door attendants are really tough but it is worth a try.

Look forward to reading your updates.
