I'm a Lifetime QFF Silver and QC member. Need to travel from Aus to Prague. EK have a direct flight from DBX to PRG.

Is it better to book the QF codeshare or should I book direct with emirates?

If booking the QF codeshare, I would only get lounge access in DBX anyway as a QC member. So lounge access isn't a big deal.

Is the EK frequent flyer program worth pursuing, or should i stick to QFF? I hardly fly QF anymore. Mainly SQ these days.

I would definitely book with Qantas (QF codeshares). That way you'd have lounge access in Australia and DXB (albeit not in Prague). You'd also earn Qantas points and status credits - you would earn fewer points and NO status credits if booking EK flight numbers.

I wouldn't bother with the Skywards program - it's not great and you're better off sticking with Qantas for this trip in my view (particularly as you have QF silver and QC membership).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Qantas booking is my recommendation.
I agree with these answers.

Thanks for the replies. Understand the lounge situation. So if I book with QF codeshare:

Can I still use business class check in, extra baggage allowance and priority boarding as QFF silver? Would this also be the case if I have to book with EK?

I believe that you do get business check-in and extra baggage as QF silver flying Emirates on QF flight numbers. You would also get lounge access as a QC member but not priority boarding, I don't think (that's for Gold/Platinum members).

You wouldn't get lounge access if booking on EK flight numbers, but I'm not sure about business check-in etc.

I'd be interested in what the price difference is between EK and QF code share for the flights. If its not trivial, as I suspect, then consider if that cash could go towards lounge substitutes if you book with EK. If you don't fly QF much, then the SCs and points earned in paying for QF may be stranded and not be able to be used anyway?

Try for Business checkin and if queried 'you believed as a QC member you were entitled'. I would be very surprised if anyone said anything at all.

Agree. But not always the case I've found recently. Not that Qantas fares have dropped but rather EK codes have risen!

My trip to Scotland and Ireland in a few weeks time was booked through QF travelling on EK metal. There was a small difference in price (less than $10). And I get the full points and SC's and the benefits of my Qantas Club membership having QF flight numbers.
