Hi I have booked MEL-SIN return on SQ Business class.
My onward is on the 777-300 and return by A380.
Looking forward to the A380 experience since I've never flown on it before.

Have fun.

I just returned from my holiday Mel-Sin-Bkk on A380 return. It was fantastic, so much room and the ability to sleep FLAT.

Oh, don't bother with SilverKris Lounge in Melbourne Airport, go directly to Air NZ lounge.

I recommend a seat in forward J cabin. It felt like First Class with your little own cabin, plus you get to "turn left" upon entering the flight.... I sat in 15A (Mel-Sin) and 15K (Sin-Mel), that seat has 2 storage compartments by the window compare to 1 storage bin for seat 14A and 14K. When I got over from my jetlag, I will upload some photos.

Here is my photos:

Singapore Airlines - Windows Live

Departed on 30 September on the first SQ A380 flight out of Melbourne. Full of people especially the Singapore Girls... SIA must had chosen the most pretty ones for the opening.

MEL SKL is a disappointment... go directly to Air NZ Lounge, so much better there.

Also, there are photos of Swissotel Stamford Singapore and Dusit Thani (Dusit Grand Room) Bangkok in my albums. Enjoy.

I am also thinking of going to the ANZ lounge instead of the SKL at Melbourne airport. But I am not sure if the ANZ lounge will be open at the time of my flight which is in the morning 1120hrs dep.
On my return flight from SIN on the A380, I have booked 15D & F. I am flying with my partner. I heard they are upgrading the seats on the 777-300 flights out of MEL. Is that true? Or should i be expecting the regional seating 2-3-2 arrangement with the old style seats?

No problems there - NZ 124 to AKL (and with connections on to US) leaves at 1135.

As far as I know the 10.10 flight out of Melbourne is still using the old Regional J (2-3-2 configuration). Further, there is currently no plan of replacing it with refurbished 77A. (Note: I stand to be corrected, and sincerely hope that I am wrong, because I hope SIA upgrade those seats!)

As joeymelb says SQ237/SQ238 are currenly operated by the 'old' B777-300.

There has been some chatter about a potential upgrade of these planes (in line with the other older 777s), however this is yet to be substantially confirmed as a rumour, or by SQ.

However, a man I met in an SQ lounge recently seemed adiment that this upgrade would go ahead, so fingers crossed. As I say, this has not been confirmed any further on FT or SQT.

Slightly OT, but SQ will be (or is currently?) revisiting their policy on 'saver' and *A awards on the newer aircraft (388, 77W, etc).
