Hi all I booked 3 award business class flights for my wife, son and myself with Virgin from Adelaide to Singapore.on july8 and plan on returning July 19th
As this is our first Business class flight
i have a few questions
I only have booked the flight to Singapore, and was thinking of booking the return through Virgin as a paid for economy flight ( thinking the status points won't go a stray) I have just discovered this doesn't seem possible? I was keen to fly through Virgin as it's the only FF programme I belong to, any suggestions the return flight? I see there are well priced Quantas flights maybe I should just go for those and sign up to there FFP??

my other issue is I booked the award flight to Singapore without a lot of thought as I didn't want to miss out on it, after some thought we wanted to spend some time in Langkawi or maybe another destination. I noticed there was award Buisness class connecting my flight to Langkawi but missed out on it, Thinking a connecting award Buisness class flight may be nice in extending the experience, new to this but defiantly have the bug.any advice much apriciated

Re: First Buisness class flight

Virgin doesn't actually fly from Singapore - I assume the flight you've actually booked is SQ, which is a VA partner? I suppose you could book SQ on the return and credit to VA.

Singapore to Langkawi is a fairly short flight, I wouldn't be too fussed if you missed out on business class there.

Re: First Buisness class flight

You might find one way paid fares on Singapore airlines (credit to Virgin) will be expensive... just having a quick look for the date you mention comes in at ~$1200 aussie dollars to SYD or ~$1000 to Perth (you don't say where you are based). Qantas is slightly cheaper. Business class Singapore airlines is $2500-3500 one way (PER/SYD respectively).

The cheapest options will be a low cost carrier - either Scoot, jetstar or Air Asia. Scoot is starting at $300 one way to SYD.

As indicated one way fares on carriers such as SQ can be a lot more expensive than simply half a return fare.

Aside from the LCC option do you have enough points to book business award for the return?

It may be that you can't set the origin using velocity. If so, perhaps transfer to SQ and see about availably that way.

Thanks for the suggestion"s I have changed the flight to fly through to Langkawi in Business, cost about 12000 more points each and about $200 cancellation fee. The best option seems to be a paid Qantas or Emirates flight. From Singapore to Adelaide

I have found a flight with SQ for around $650 from SIN to ADE, trough WOTIF am I able to gain velocity points and SC from this flight?
