Hi there,
Sorry if this a well worn Q, but I was wondering where on my ticket it shows the fare class. For example
Virgin D,I,J and C. Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks for any advise offered. Mark

Hi Mark,

For flights you've already booked refer to the "Fare Calculation Line" details on your itinerary. The first letter in the four or five digit fare code represents the bucket you're booked into.

For example, this is for a Saver Light booking ("S" fare bucket):

This is for an Economy Reward booking ("X" fare bucket):

You can identify the fare bucket when booking flights by checking the Fare Rules and looking for the same code. The info here might also be useful: Identifying Flight Class Codes on Virgin Australia | Pack and HackPack and Hack.

Thanks DGW for a very detailed and clear answer. Much appreciated. And last Q, where would one look when browsing or making new bookings.
Cheers and a very big Xmas thank you.

No worries, you're welcome.

For new bookings, select the fare you're after then click "View Fare Rules" in the bottom right corner of the page. Then you'll see the Fare Basis info.

Yes Yes, thanks again... I just realised you answered this q in your first post.... But thanks again as the visuals are so much better...

Cheers .... and thanks you once again...

  • So why the need for all the additional letters ?? .... Now I'm thinking too much hahahaha
  • Virgin Australia and Virgin Samoa: Y, B, H, K, L

Each of the letters represents different fares with different rules/availability attached to them - the more expensive the fare bucket, the better the availability is the general rule. When they run out of 'K' seats, the next bucket "up" gets offered. The base fare (before taxes) for a K fare MEL-CBR next week is 243.36, while a H fare is 279.72.
