Hi all , I have been to Changi Airport plenty of times in transit but only stayed overnight once . However I find myself in the position of spending several nights there soon and i have / want to impress some friends of mine there ! I need to know a super dooper place to dine ( open to all cuisine ) and price is not an issue . Please let me know your thoughts .

I presume you mean that you are staying in Singapore itself, as opposed to Changi airport? For fine dining options in the one place, it's hard to go past Marina Bay Sands
Restaurants in Singapore | Dining at Marina Bay Sands Singapore

I haven't tried any of the restaurants, as it was still opening when I was last there, however there is a large presence of 'name brand' chefs, including one by Wakuda Tetsuya (of Sydney's Tetsuyas fame).

Additionally, almost every one of the major hotels offers high-quality buffets - Singaporeans LOVE their food so you pretty much can't go wrong!

We couldn't get a booking in Ku De Ta last Saturday night and we were staying at the Marina Bay Sands. You need to book way ahead. The view is sensational though! We ended up eating in the Bistro Moderne in the Casino complex opposite the hotel. It is run by a French Chef called Daniel Boulud. Fabulous food, fabulous service, great wine list. You would need to book for a group. Thoroughly recomend it.

Thanks Guys , actually staying a night at Marina Bay Sands so i have just emailed KuDeTa for a booking .... looks great !:)

Ku De ta sounds good, i just hope their service is swifter than their website is! :D

When I was in Singapore last we mainly ate in cheaper places and in the street, but we went for High Tea at the Fulleton Hotel and if you're into a bit of quaint tradition I can't recommend it enough! Gret value too - $50 i think incl Moet champagne.

:D

Thanks for that... we are heading to Singapore in about 2.5 weeks, so I will add that to the list of places to visit.

bossreggie, was Waku Ghin very similar to Tetsuyas? We ate at Tetsuyas a couple of years ago and the degustation was fantastic! Not sure about the wines (I don't want to say it too loud on this forum for fear of ridicule, but I don't drink...)

Pricey, but worthwhile.

+1 very rarely drinks so I'm more than happy to have his share!!

Similar, but IMHO I felt the service was better @ Waku Ghin. More polished so to speak. I also felt the dinner was more "Asian". I know that's vague but it is how I would describe it.

I also felt it was a lot more intimate. I did not see a table of more than 4 and it was mostly couples. (As in 2 pax not that it was romantic couples)

Unlike some ppl.. I have not usually taken pics of my meals.. I will do it next time though as I find it difficult to remember exactly what I ate.

I wish they did what Vue De Monde do and Email the menu and wines you had, the next day!

ku de ta - expensive? yes. fancy? yes. worth the money? not even close!

Why don't you start by reserving a table at the rooftop bar at the fullarton bay (not the original fullarton) for some pre-dinner drinks, followed by dinner at procacci next door (at customs house). Get an outdoor table by the water and aim for a booking just before sunset, so you get the nice views at day and night.

I would support the recommendation of Ku De Ta, went there in December on recommendation from local expat. Food was great but wine is expensive, but alcohol is expensive anywhere in Singapore. Get to eat outside by the river, it's magic.

Marina Sands is great for the view, went up there to the top floor bar for an expensive Singapore Sling just for the experience. You need directions to to the toilets though, they're quite a distance from the bar! You must go up there for the experience and get a few photos of yourself and your buddies with a drink and the view, it's unbelievable!
Try to go up there when no cover charge, i.e. not on a Saturday night - and no formal dress code. I went up there on a Sunday afternoon and no cover charge or strict dress code, whereas was turned away on the Saturday night for wearing sandals - saved me the cover charge!
Pity only hotel guests were allowed for a swim, hopefully that will change one day.
The restaurant on top floor of Marina Sands looks reasonable and not too overpriced but didn't get to try it.

Another place for good food is Shangri-La hotel at end of Orchard Rd in Orange Grove Rd - I think - (in fact probably any Shangri-La hotel in the world, had similar experience in Qingdao, China) and their all you can eat buffet, no way you can try all the dishes, even over multiple days. Breakfasts there are just as ridiculous for the amount & quality of food, it's a glutton's paradise!

Oooh I forgot to mention the Fullerton - which has a chocolate buffet on Friday and Saturday nights! Its a LOT of chocolate... but soooo good. Chocoholic's paradise
