Some parts of Au have school holidays in Oct, maybe VA will not do blackouts, but it might.
Depends on if you want J or Y reward flights and how many pax.

They're strict on the 6 months thing if you're trying to use the Gold/Platinum reward seat benefit. But you would only need to do that if there's no regular award availability (and you've said there is availability).
