I ran into an interstate colleague in the office the other day and noticed the shinny white Platinum One tag on his suitcase. Now, I know for a fact he only has Gold status. When I asked him about it, he said he purchased it on ebay, basically so people will think he is WP1.

I just don't understand what the point of doing this is; Most people outside of the frequent flyer community would have no idea what a white tag represents, those that do understand the significance will be wondering what a WP1 is doing in the Qantas Club, and the flight crew are well aware of who their WP1 passengers are.

Has anyone had any experience with this sort of "fake status"? Is there any benefit to it apart from looking like a w*nker?

Why does he want people to think hes a WP1?

Do QF flyers clear the way as you walk towards the gate?

Hmm I never use the stupid tags because my bag always seems to get lost that way but I've got a few lying around - end of FY windfall maybe

Didn't ask him, but an ebay search reveals someone selling a single WP1 tag for $268

I just dont give any thought to the colour of people's tags as you never know their history. I quite like the red ones actually and gave one to my son's partner which means I no longer have the full set but have multiples of WP, SG, Silver and one WP1 which I think looks the worst of the lot. I recently gave away a few on AFF. What does that make me?

I usually have one attached to hand luggage just because sometimes that goes in the hold.

i think the white and black tags look the nicest...
still... to buy it just so people think he is WP1 lol...

Lol
I love this thread. I had every colour of tag except CL until someone on a Facebook group I'm on posted a QF F Amenity Kit and PJs with a CL tag for $120. Let's just say we cut a deal as I didn't want anything other than the tag :D
And no it wasn't HFC in case anybody is wondering.

Don't these coasters have our details embedded for lost luggage claims?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have left my cardboard gold SQ "Suites" tag on my otherwise unremarkable black luggage as it makes it easier to pick out (and makes me smile each time I see it).

In your case Princess, it was for the collection. QF already KWYA!

No, they are blank. They only store details if you have swiped them at checkin.
