I've been asked to work up a piece on fear of flying – what FoF is, and how to overcome it – with with specific regard to business travellers, and this sort of article really calls for a bit of personalisation... rather than just go into the abstract, I'd love to be able to cite a real business traveller who suffered from fear of flying, detail how it impacted them (due to their need to regularly fly for business) and how they overcame it.

With that in mind: if anybody here fits that bill I'd welcome a PM or email [to [email protected]]... however, please note that the need here is for a business traveller, not a leisure flyer.

Many thanks!

I'm mystified as to just WHAT the difference is between someone travelling for business...and someone travelling "recreationally" but with equal or greater obligation to do so... (participating in overseas events as national team member...or umpire/judge etc) ...but whatever floats your boat I suppose...its your article.

Background on this: it's specifically for the Executive Style section, which is aimed at a 'business' readership (it's sorta 'business lifestyle' if you will) and so the editor always prefers a business angle where one can be had.

In this case, I'm hopeful of finding somebody who had to fly for business but suffered from fear of flying, and maybe it either made their working life & business trips bloody miserable or could even have potentially cruelled their career (unable to do the trips for pitches, client meetings, conferences, professional development, networking etc), so the person needed to get past FoF from that professional standpoint. That's going to give it much stronger relevance to the target audience than a 'must-fly' leisure traveller (by the way, those are very good examples you gave).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Dunno how helpful this is, but renowned US PGA tour golfer John Daly, does not like flying. So instead he has a luxury motor home to travel the long distances around USA as he goes from tournament to tournament (most of the time it would be on a regional swings so probably all less than a days drive). Generally these guys only have one day a week for travel, which is Mondays flying is a must so his situation is fairly unique. You probably wont be able to interview him but there is probably already enough articles written on this, though you might have to wade through stories of personal 'incidents' first.

Good luck and I look forward to reading the article. I have a fear of not flying. but I think that is quite common among this group.
