Hi all,

Am trying to make a one way F (saver) booking from SIN - Europe (Tried both LHR and CDG so far) but every date I have tried is showing up as waitlist. So far I have tried every day in September 2018 and every day in March 2019 up till dates are no longer available.

Has something changed since the last time I booked on Singapore or is it just the destination airports I am picking.

Is anyone able to find F Savers to Europe that aren't waitlisted at the moment?

For how many pax? I have struggled to find more than 1 when i have been looking but have definitely found some singles.

Thanks LadyC, am looking for 2 pax. Will have a search around to see if I can find any singles.

Today booked EY having failed to find anything on SQ website out of Mel/Syd in mid May to LHR, other than a convoluted via Canberra option.. When I phoned SQ lady said all J and F sold on our preferred midweek flts, but then admitted F was waitlisted but couldn't say how long the waitlist was, or indeed whether it was ex MEL/SYD or ex SIN. Cant blame her, but it was all too hard, so we hv gone back to apartment living on EY.. tough huh?

Worth trying ZRH or FRA as well (assuming you want A380)? SQ are reducing capacity of F cabins, so saver awards are going to be more difficult to find.

Availability is definitely restricted with the new cabins. Might be easier to go J and waitlist for F? Or 1 pax F and the other J (waitlisting that pax in F)?

I have had many flights waitlisted with Singapore Airlines on J and F, and have to say, they have all come through. Most of them within a month or two after waitlisting.
I have just had a waitlist come through for a saver award from Barcelona to Perth in J, but have a confirmed standard award booking on the same flight. Can someone tell me if they would credit the standard and book the saver award if I was to confirm this waitlist flight.
Thanks.

Thanks for the replies all.

I managed to find a single flight LHR - SIN in F for 2 pax in March so at least I know its possible.

Apart from the reasons stated previously, it looks like some of their A380s are going to be out of service during that time - presumably for refurbishment . These flights have been replaced by 777 with less seats available and hence minimal availability early next year in F to Europe.

it would be great if there was a site or feature that you could see all avaialbe reward flights in the future

So what do people do when they are on the wait list for months unsure if their flights are going to eventuate

You can't book hotels. Or make plans

Any time we have been on Waitlist on SQ for F/R, we have asked the agent to message the rev manager and ask that seats be released on our flight. Less than 24 hours later we have had our seats assigned. This is typically 300-355 days out, and before the new Suites though.

Book a revenue seat?

This or book hotels etc that are cancellable without penalty. Or wait to book hotels until confirmed (hotel prices don't always become more expensive with time, they jump around a lot unless period of very high demand).

Depending on program, another option is book a lower class fare using miles and cancel it if the waitlist for the higher class comes available.

Gday

I had a SIN-ZRH F for 2 pax confirmed flight for June this year and added two waitlists to it a month ago to try and move the flight by a couple of days. Got an email yesterday and a followup call a few minutes later saying one of the waitlists had cleared and would i like to accept it. I did so and kept the other waitlist. Super easy process.

I also had ZRH-SYD F for 2 pax in July that i had to cancel as i wanted to change the date by about 2 weeks and there was no waitlists available at all for the range of days i wanted. I have been looking very closely at SQ flights to and from Europe and it appears if you want to depart on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday there is not even waitlists available most of the time. Frustrating but thats how it is. And in all honesty Qantas are not even remotely close to SQ's level of customer service. I will probably end up buying a revenue ticket in J back from Europe at the last minute. I have been looking high and low to work out the cheapest way to do this and departing via IST is the answer. Can get one way IST- SYD in J for about $2,100 on top tier carriers.

Pele.

obviously..... but if you are intending to use miles only?

The joys of award travel.. you'll need to be flexible then.

It seems most people chasing award travel are flexible with hour/day/month/year/destination of travel, making it much easier to acquire a ticket. If your travel dates are rigid, its more difficult.

We always booked the flights we could the day they were released, same with the return, for the rough time and length we wanted to be away +/- a few days. Then we planned the trip around the flights.

My new job just doesn’t allow me to plan that far ahead anymore (was gov’t, now private sector), so I’m afraid the variety of award flight options for us will be greatly reduced.

fair enough, the uncertainity factor obviously bothers me most than more people.
having no status doesnt help too :)

Having no status is a good sign - it means you are not wasting money and know how to play the game.
I have not paid for an international flight for over a decade and we fly to Europe in F a few times a year.
