Booked my Mel-Auh EY461 First Apartments using velocity 11 months ago. Expertflyer alerted me on a last minute equipment change from the a380 to 77w. I know it's a first world issue, but I am very disappointed on this change for the beginning of our major anniversary trip.

i tried calling Velocity - they had a compassionate attitude and tried to waive the "no change within 24 hours rule", but they couldn't find availability on the Syd Auh A380 flight tonight.
called Etihad, they can't do anything as ticket was issued by Virgin.

The 77W F is nothing to sneeze at, but far behind the Apartments :(

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That's a shame and I would be very disappointed also. I recommend drinking your way through the pain ðŸ

Can VA contact EY on your behalf and see if a seat can be released on the SYD flight?

I had an F upgrade from J on QF9 and was contacted by QF after the seat broke on the inbound flight and they moved me to the EK flight and retained the F seat..... (this all happened at 8pm expecting an 1130 departure - which became a 1030 departure which I just made it in time to the airport! So it can be done but takes manual intervention I expect).

"Cant find" may be code for "computer says no" (which could be any variation of seat availability inclduing reward coded seats only) but perhaps they can actually call them and get one released for you!

I agree that the apartments are exceptional but to be honest I sleep better in the 77W F seat!

Thanks all. Even if virgin is able to contact EY and get seats, I may be charged the new $300us per sector charge, which will amount to $1200us as we are flying Mel-auh-cdg.
