Europcar corporate rate, pointless?

Recently a Europcar rental lady said to me that I should be taking advantage of a corporate rate and proactively contacted her head office to arrange it for me. Yesterday I received an email with my new corporate rate code, but it said little else of worth. So I rang them to ask a few questions, like 1) what's the benefit for me, and 2) can I still earn Privilege bonuses etc.

The answers were 1) I get a 10% discount (how great is that...I can get a 10% discount any day of the week by using any one of the numerous legitimate codes about), and 2) Can't use corp rate and get Privilege bonuses!

I asked the lady I was speaking to, if there were any other benefits to using a corp rate apart from their exceptionally generous discount and she replied "no, is there anything else I can help you with today?", to which I replied " Well yes there is actually. You can close this useless corporate account"!
 
Yep I discovered that 3 years ago..... You get to speak to someone but it actually costs you more!
It's for people with more money than cents and time poor/disorganised.
It's 30% saving being average customer as VIP!
 
Same with my company and their preferred supplier (AVIS). A one day hire is cheaper with the corporate rate, but 3 days plus or a weekend is cheaper using internet discounts and specials.
