Long time lurker, first time poster. I am traveling on etihad on a W class ticket this weekend. I have a healthy AA advantage account with miles, and a velocity card with just a few local domestic flights. I am just wondering what will be best for me, to put them on velocity or AA advantage, or sign up to etihad guest.

Many thanks in advance.

Have a great flight this weekend.

We are doing the same thing in September. Are you transiting MNL or doing a stopover?

If you are transiting only could you report back how the International transit desk works at MNL, particularly if they recover your bags so you do not have to go out through Immigration and come back in.

We are on SYD-MNL on QF19 arriving 1700, then out EY421 at 0115 early the next day. Seperate tickets, so I assume we cannot interline the bags.

Can't help much with the points question, sorry. We have no AA miles, but do have some Velocity, so will use that. Etihad Guest does not seem to have any great advantages.

AFAIK AA is out of the question, they are not a crediting partner.

I am pretty sure You can collect AA miles as per the Etihad site. Etihad guest seemed to have very expensive award tickets compare to AA, not sure if this is true or not, can anyone confirm? I don't have a current Etihad guest account so can't check. Many thanks.

You can according to the upthread link, I checked this morning and it was not on the partner list which I should have realised is not current given its Mexicana reference:
