Hello flying friends and happy first day to VA...

A question. In mid-August, I am due to be flying in AA in pleb class :p from JFK - LAX arriving at 10:10pm. Am then on the 11:45pm (was 11:30pm) VA flight from LA back to SYD. Is that enough time in between flights?

I booked the AA flight through some QFF points from a now unused account and there is nothing easy to change to now, but I could use the points elsewhere. Also grred to see my VA flight now $100+ cheaper this morning.

Also while I am here, to keep my UA MP active, can I just book a flight (which might be a not "free" UA ps flight to LAX instead of the above) or do I have to complete the flight as well?

Thanks muchly...

Separate tickets..... Hmmmm.......

1. Do AA and VAust. have an interline agreement?

2. Do they operate out of the same terminal at LAX?

I'd be very concerned about those timings if the answer to Q1 was ..No.

I'd be more than a a bit concerned if the answer to Q2 was ...No...

To count as a flight one must FLY..... I think that is "across the board" for FF programs... even checking in isn't good enough AFAIK... If you don't board I don't think it credits...

Definately not enough transfer time. AA & VA are not affiliated. Additionally, you're flying Dometically US and then doing an International flight. Minimum check in time for International Flights in most places is at least 2.5 hours beforehand....let alone the nightmare security you'll need to get through leaving LAX.... I think an earlier flight out of JFK is on the cards for you... Good luck :)
