There are cheap ex NZ fares to BNE, SYD, MEL from $169NZ in October. Thats about $140 AU. Also one way business fares from $509NZ. AU $400 or there about depending on exchange rates. Use the New Zealand site on the Emirates website.

EK413 to SYD is on the A380 and is always a nice trip with the lounge experience before the flight.

So a J ticket would give about 1700 Velocity points TT? Not bad for the luxury you’d encounter onboard!

I booked one of those cheap EK Business class specials in May 2009, I think it was about $500 NZD which ended up being $423.00 and I got some Velocity points.

Flying the A380 in business class was nice.

They wouldn’t credit in J?

They wouldn't credit the business code I booked via the Ek website. It was a year or so ago so can't remember the booking code apologies... It wasn't 'J' that's for sure....

Thanks. Looking likely I'll head to NZ for an early Oct Jaunt and Duty Free run.

I just did an August jaunt to AKL . Stayed at the Westin Auckland, too far from the city centre I felt. Breakfast was great.
Paid $141 (NZ$1690 for AKL /SYD and upgraded to J with points. At Auckland Duty free Johnny Walker Black 2 x 1 litres for NZ99. When I got to Sydney duty free the same thing was AU$99. saved AU$25. The exchange rate is very good at the moment so have fun at the duty free Mal.
