I'm hoping to use Emirates on a Global Explorer (not One World Explorer) ticket in October. Does anyone know yet whether this is possible?

Thanks for your comments. However Alaskan Airlines can be used on a Global Explorer but not One World Round the world, as they are not a member of the One World Alliance. I am hoping the same will apply to Emirates eventually.

While some non-OneWorld airlines can be used for certain segments/routings on OneWorld Global Explorer fares, these are usually specific partners offering code shares that would otherwise make some destinations inaccessible for the fare. I do not expect we will ever see EK able to be booked on routes that also have OneWorld airlines operating with their own flights. So while EK may have (just as an example) DXB-GLA, that same routing can be included in a Global Explorer fare using QF/BA via LHR.

Global Explorer is a OneWorld fare and the inclusion of non-OneWorld carriers is for specific advantage to selling the fares and not to offer alternate carriers to what is already available via OneWorld members.

The non OneWorld Global Explorer partner airline tend to be smaller with a limited route map.

EK are a mega airline with a massive route map. 10~12 hours flying time from DXB take in a signification portion on the worlds population & many mayor airports. EK (with a DXB transit) completes with many OW airlines on long haul routes.

Thank you Nellie for your very lucid explanation. As I will be travelling from Hamburg to Perth my solution is to use a Qantas ticket flying on Emirates aircraft. I think that should work okay.

Thank you for the info. I think I have found a solution to my dilemma.
