EK432 SIN - BNE some thoughts.

Travelled back on EK432 last night (on a QF flight number), not my first time on the flight but first where I was in Y, no recognition on board as a WP or special treatment, however I enjoyed the flight regardless as it was only half full. I found the food was excellent (so nice to get a fish option thats not Barra as I cannot stand farmed Barra), the IFE brilliant and the room/seat fine.

What I did not like:

It appeared the call button was not enabled or was broken across the plane, none of them worked so you had to flag a crew member for a drink etc.
The fact EK will always dock at the gate at the northern most gate, its a long walk to customs.

Its a pity the flight will go back to its normal timings soon, the 9.25PM arrival is very nice while the 12.30 departure suits many hotels re checkout and gives you a good sleep in.

I've taken this flight a few times, as well as I have it booked in Nov.
Yes, the long walk is a drag, but compared to the overnight flight on QF, I'll take the walk any day, even at 1230a.

Lounge is good, IFE is very good and EK is pretty good at keeping my drink filled up in Y.
Given its a daytime flight, don't see any reason to the spend the money to fly up front, especially when most of my flights have been half to 3/4 full.

That is a good problem to have.

My concern would be what would happen to those Platinums that are not upgraded and are stuck in economy on a full flight. I guess I will have to experience that one for myself to see what sort of scars it leaves.

No scars, maybe a headache depending on how many drinks you have.
Usually the IFE has some great action movies to pass the time, or watch the re-runs of the US Masters/US Open and dream of that perfect 7 iron to a back right pin.

That is a good problem to have.

Interesting. I was also on EK432 on 18 August and the crew were very nonchalant towards pax with status. Compared to my previous flights with EK as WP, I might as well have not had any status as that's how I was treated. Just another passenger. The service wasn't bad, but no perks that I had previously received from EK.
