EK151 J Seats

So I have a QF Classic reward in J which includes a flight on EK151 from Dubai to Copenhagen, which is on a A380-800. Qantas shows me as have seat 7B (see screen shot), yet according to Seat Guru there is no 7B (just a 7A and an 8B). Has Qantas loaded an invalid seat map or has EK changed their seat config and seat guru is out of date?

Have you looked on the EK website? Your QF PNR should work.

I had a look on expertflyer. For next week the seatguru map matches the, for your date next year, the QF one matches.

I would wholly recommend avoiding using third party site to reserve seats (in this case Qantas for an EK flight). Always go to the operating airline's manage booking function.* I've seen QF offer seats on Cathay and Dragon that simply aren't available for selection.

For airlines outside the USA seatguru is notoriously unreliable these days. They don't update their seat maps in many cases.

For EK you want a window seat


*There are some exceptions to this, but not in this case.

Why? Is there a particular advantage? As this is a day time flight i wont be sleeping, maybe window could be interesting. Does it have direct aisle access without climbing over someone? I usually avoid window seats unless all aisles are taken, then again i'm usually in whY!

On BA flight i was sure to pick a forward facing seat, the idea of sitting backwards is just wrong for me.

Yes, all seats have direct aisle access in the premium cabins on EK's A380s.

The wondow seat is longer, much more private, and importantly, you get to (a) look at the views and (b) control the shades if you want to. It's not great being stuck in the aisle or centre trying to watch a film and glare interrupts the picture

There is zero downside to a window on EK's A380.

Even for a day flight it's a very early start on the 151. Nice to be able to have a snooze for an hour if yuo feel like it, and again, having control of the shades will make this more pleasant.

No. We have had those seats for several flights and not an issue. Can be a little bit of foot traffic but no discernible noise from the bar. I always go and have a few drinks and a chat and I haven’t seen any rowdy or unruly passengers. Mrs Jase isn’t a great sleeper so often gets up in the middle of the night and goes back there and reads. I find the mini cabin much quieter and has a cosy feel (there was only 3 of us in the mini cabin on our last DXB-MEL flight)

EK387 is on B777-300ER, its a 2-3-2 configuration where the window seats do not have direct aisle access. Selected 7D in mini-cabin based on reviews and availability. This displays correctly on Emirates and BA websites for my booking, but still shows as 9J on Qatar, and blank on QF (was 9J before i went to emirates).

EK151 on the A380-800 went for 8K (although some sites show my seat as 7B).

Will be interesting to see what sticks.

Many third party sites can take some time to update.

your seat selection on the Emirates website will be the one that sticks, and is the only one you need to monitor.

What might be of interest is for you to do a google image search on the Emirates A380 business class (and 777 business class) cabins. This will give you a good visual on the layout of the cabin. A centre aisle seat is a good choice for the 777 flight.

Yeah of the 6 J flights on my itinerary im expecting the EK 777 to be the worst and the Qatar QSuite to be the best. Will keep any eye out incase a better option opens up.
