Hi if Im fly into DXB in J on EK and arrive at 11pm, anf my connecting flight is also in J on EK at 8am the following morning - is there a lounger that is open over night to wait in? Or would I need to book a hotel room?

The EK lounges at DXB are basically open 24/7.

If the travel is on the one booking, you MAY be entitled to a hotel room but the T&C's of that are pretty onerous.

Thanks Serfty, it a QF Classic reward so doubt Id be eligible for any EK freebies.

I ended opting for a flight that gets into DXB earlier (11am), so will get a hotel. Just need to decide whether to grab an airport one and use the time to recharge, or head into the city and squeeze in a little sightseeing before a good nights sleep and early morning flight.

At that time of the night it's pretty painless from the airport to the city so maybe stay closer to the Burj Khalifa and a little sightseeing on the way back

While EK has cut back on things such as the chauffeur drive for award tickets, other things like the free hotel are still available, as Serfty points out.

If you can get the hotel room take it.
I once made the mistake of letting a Qantas First Host talk me out of it on arrival and I can tell you even the EK First Lounge in Dubai is not a pleasant place to sleep!

The link Serfty posted above read as if only available on EK tickets but i notice when I go to manage my booking that i see

On a QF award ticket flying EK in J with a transit in DXB, I received the free hotel in DXB and the limousine service. The latter is gone now...

But Dubai Connect does state it includes transfers to and from hotel in Dubai (although not what type) so I guess it may not be a limo anymore - im fine as long as they get me from/to airport in a timely manner and I get some lounge time on the outward journey.

Yes.

I meant the limo at the other points of the journey, not the transit stop in DXB. That's now gone on award trips.

Yeah I read about that a while ago, but on this trip all is good, as the prior arriving EK flight is a connection in HKG from a QF flight. QF dont offer limo service that Im aware of for J, so Im fine to walk from the QF flight to the lounge then to the gate for the EK flight.

They offer Dubai Connect to economy class pax as well so there must be different ways of ferrying pax around rather than just a limo.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Complimentary coach transfers to and from your ‘Dubai Connect’ accommodation will be provided - guessing F,J and Y now all sahre the same bus. Unless they put F in better hotels than J who get better than Y?

Are the Dubai connect hotels usually airport hotels?

I believe F and J get 'better' hotels. From what I read they vary in distance from the airport - close by to 20 minutes or something.

They gave me the J/F-class hotel. A few minutes drive from the airport. With a car in each direction. The hotel was fine.

As i will have 20ish hours (arrive 11am leave 8am), I was hoping to head into Dubai to meet up with a friend that lives there and maybe see Burj Khalifa or something in which case a hotel in city would be great.

No drama am hoping she has a car or that I can get a reasonably priced taxi to city and back.

How did you go booking the Dubai Connect? Are you eligible?

Yep i booked via the link on my Qantas booking, of course no details provided yet, as im sure they allocate actual hotel much closer. 10 months away!
