SWMBO and I are travelling from Sydney to Budapest in May 2018 and then Athens to Sydney in June 2018, both via Dubai on Emirates with QF tickets on the legs starting and finishing in Sydney

We are travelling in F from Sydney and have to change to J in Dubai to the 2 class 777. I am interested to know what to expect.

Will we have to change concourses?
If so how is that achieved?
Is there F class arrivals access to the First Lounge in Dubai during the transit?

We are travelling F on both flights from Athens 777 then A380
Will we have to change concourses?

Any other useful information?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

It’s not possible to know exactly which concorse you will arrive at and leave from. Google the flights to see what the usual gates are but they can change depending on traffic.

Your F flight and boarding passes should give you access to the F lounge for your departure flight.

Okay, Emirates have sent the itinerary and it looks like both transits are to/from Terminal 3. In fact the Emirates web site states, ‘All Emirates flights are now arriving at and departing from our brand new, exclusive terminal at Dubai International airport’

So my question now is, do we get First Class Lounge Access due to arriving in First Class before our J flight to Budapest.

Also, any other useful information.

Disregard, although I couldn’t find the appropriate email topic to ask Emirates, while trying to find the answer, I managed to start a chat. For anybody who wants to know, disregarding status, one is required to attend the lounge applicable to the next onward journey.

Sorry for wasting anybody’s time.

Have you thought about ringing the EK CC and just ask the about lounge access. In my experience the EK CC is not a long wait time. I have not been in this situation with EK, I have with QR. With QR if you fly F long haul, >7hrs??, not real sure of exact hours, MEL or SYD-DOH certainly qualify and fly out J you do get access to the F lounge. The small rules like this one are not normally published or difficult to find.

What other useful information are you after? it is an aircraft transfer in DXB.

Thanks Matt, yes it’s an aircraft transfer, that’s the problem, only a two class a/c with no First.

It’s no biggie, the business lounge will suffice, I just wanted to make sure that we weren’t entitled to the first lounge.

Remember you can always buy upgrade access to the F lounge if they won't let you in on the incoming F tickets.

I would also check your fare bucket SYD-BUD. If the fare bucket is F all the way through, however the operating aircraft has no F cabin the F lounge guardians may let you in.
