Quick hop OOL-SYD next week, I'm plat but not tried Econ-x yet.

No worries outbound, I have 3F however on the way back the only Econ-X seats going are centre, same goes for the exit rows.

For now I've bagged the center X seat but is the extra legroom worth it, or would you choose an aisle/win seat in a non-X row?

Personally, I hate middle seats (and have flown one in the VA 737 exit row which wasn't particularly comfortable being sandwiched in between two other people), so I'd always take an aisle or window in a normal row in place of that experience again.

Unless it's a centre seat in either exit rows or row three I would go aisle in a regular row. The extra inch of legroom wouldn't be doing it for me. Too much hassle to get up and go to the loo if required.

No way I would ever choose a middle seat over a window if the seat widths are identical, regardless of the leg room. Not enough personal space. I am sure some very tall people might say otherwise, but not for me.

I prefer aisle all the way and would probably take an aisle further back.

That said, pre-econX I'd take row 3 middle ahead of other seats, so possibly I'd give row 4/5 middle a go to test the water.

My current preference now econX is here is row 4 or row 5 aisle and hope for a shadow, as for me that's better than the fixed width row 3 seats. This week I had 3 seats BNE-PER on a relatively full flight.

I never take a middle seat.... I would look at swapping flights if only middle seats were left!

I agree with most others on this, suffice to say that if available, I would go for the last row isle seat. At least you will be one of the first out. Make sure however that they don't change your seat for the pointy end like they did to me. (unless of course a seat becomes available in YX prior to your departure)
