I might consider this. I read The Economist from time to time anyway, and 6,000 bonus Guest miles is almost enough for a SYD-ZQN flight.

Add that to some 'free' Flybuys and that'd work wouldn't it?

Do you reckon I could share a digital log on with someone else w' a different email??

Similar promotion at the moment for 10,000 Miles & More miles which are hard to earn for Aussies.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Wondering if anyone who took up this offer had their miles post yet.

It has been a bit over 8 weeks since I subscribed and no miles despite the confirmation screen stating 4-6 weeks. I emailed The Economist this morning so will see what they have to say.

Dear RG1

Could you please provide us more details: Etihad Guest number and Subscription reference number so we can check it out with our Etihad Guest team.

Thank you. *Jiaqi

Cant fault the follow-up from the EY reps..

Hope the results are as good as the offers.

Except you can fault them.

I sent a private message to the account with the information requested per their post and get a reply within an hour asking why I am sending them the information. I understand there may be more than one team member using the AFF account but I would expect the team to communicate with each other about issues.

So far my message back to them has gone unanswered. Parallel contact with The Economist isn't looking promising either.

15,000 miles across two accounts supposed to be credited and it has now been 10 weeks :(

Hi there,
we apologize for the delay.
We have just answered your private message and forwarded your information to our relevant team. Thank you :) *Ela

I subscribe to the Economist print version, I think it's $425 per year so a $60 discount for using 6000 miles doesn't seem that good.

Another month gone and still no miles. The Economist customer service is hopeless, all they seem to do is apologise for the delay despite pointed questions about what is being done to fix the problem.

Dear RG1,

We are sorry to hear about that. Can you please more details and your Etihad Guest number so we can check it out with our team in Australia.

Thank you. *Jiaqi

Hello Jiaqi. Maybe the below text can provide a reminder of the discussion that you have participated in. It is from a private message exchange in early May 2016 with personal details redacted. I'm posting it publicly so others can see how ineffective Etihad customer service is.

Hello

It might help if you look at the thread http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ist-subscription-offer-74222.html#post1436592

In particular note the reply by one of your representatives:
"Dear RG1

Thank you. *Jiaqi"

I would like to know when the Etihad Guest miles for subscribing to the print and digital editions of The Economist will be credited to my account.

Kind regards

Ryan Genero

Hello RG1,

We've followed up with Etihad Guest and will update you as soon as possible.

Kindly,

An update:

After numerous phone calls and emails to and from The Economist the issue came to a head earlier tonight. On a phone call I was asked to wait another month or so for the 'Gift Department' to provide a timeframe on when the miles would be credited.

I told the nice and very apologetic call center supervisor to cancel my subscription as I have had enough of the delays. For a company like The Economist to make an offer without the systems in place to honour said offer beggars belief.

No update from Etihad either. Disappointed but not surprised given what is posted about them here and on FlyerTalk.

At least I'll be receiving a proportional refund.

A further update:

I have received a proportional refund from The Economist. I have also cancelled my partner's subscription and awaiting similar refund.

I think I'll stick to transferring FlyBuys or Amex points to Etihad as I don't trust them to make good with partner offers.
