Hi people

My nieces (26 an 30) are off to the UK for 6 weeks in June. They have asked me for advice about travel insurance policies which will cover them both. I always use credit card travel insurance, so I'm not up with what else is on offer (they don't have credit cards-don't trust themselves). Obviously I'll be reading a lot of fine print, but would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

We and my adult children have used TID quite often.
They have a promo code at the moment TID0218 for 10% off.
We have only had to do a small claim once, with no problems. They seem to have very good reviews.

You can use one of the comparison sites, plug in what they think they'll need in terms of coverage and get a range of quotes.

The UK has reciprocal health care arrangements under Medicare, as do certain other countries in the EU. But that won't cover repatriation, insurance for any stopovers like Thailand, or countries not covered by the reciprocal agreement (if they decide to head off for a weekend break to say New York). Looking at TID it seems they have a basic policy for $360 for the 6 weeks, less any discounts. It covers $10million medical (unlikely to be needed), and some baggage. It's not cheap :(

Thanks. It's not actually easy to find out what policies would apply to both of them. Presumably a joint of family policy. Agree the TID is expensive (I used to use their Multi trip cover years ago). Especially if the discount code is no longer valid.

Actually it looks like the TID is 360 for the two people combined. You just put both their ages in the the quote screen. In that case it's not such a bad price. That will cover any two people travelling together (don't think siblings will make any difference to that).

'Joint or family policy". I must be getting ready for my Sunday roast.

It would be a joint policy. I think 'Family' = adults and kids. The joint policy is for any two adults travelling together. There's a slight discount (about $8 per person) booking as a joint rather than individual.

My daughter and her partner used iTrek when they travelled overseas for a year in 2016/17.
The top policy was economically priced and they reduced the excess to $0 for a small additional sum.
They had 3 claims in the time they were away (medical including accommodation, delayed baggage and a lost iPhone) and all were paid without any issue.
