My experience, has to be Delta metal so "operated by" is important and what is the fare class

Thanks - so on the basis of 'when you travel in an eligible fare class on flights with a DL flight number operated by Delta Air Lines'

It doesn't have to be the flights on the VA/Delta route map but any DL flight operated by Delta?

The VA/Delta route map will only show codeshare routes.

If it's Delta metal and has a DL flight number you will earn points and SC. Always recommended to go for Comfort+ (W) as it will earn per Premium Economy rates.

When booking on Delta, if you have issues book without the Velocity number and once you have the PNR go back in and add your Velocity number.

FYI, A Delta flight number which is operated by "(Delta) DBA connection" is eligible.

As long as it's eligible, yes you'll get SCs and points. Eg, I've flown lax to Seattle and NY to Ohio and Ohio to Memphis and got points and credits.

Every Delta metal flight (operated by Delta or one of their express carriers DBA Delta) counts.

Every published fare will be in the list of eligible fare classes posted above. The only fares that are at risk of not counting are consolidators, packages, etc.

Essentially, any Delta plane you fly on that you book through Delta is earning Velocity points. The route map is completely irrelevant.

Pretty sure it doesnt have to be Delta metal, the airlines listed under Delta Connection also count, provided booked with a DL flight no.

Good tip on upgrading to Comfort, Its only like $20 extra so worth it for the SC.

Yes it does with the exception of VA, it's quite clear in the info on the website which is also posted in the thread..

It's really a tie up between Australia and USA. (Bit like Air New Zealand which is is between Australia and New Zealand)

A carrier DBA Delta is considered Delta metal, at least for earning purposes.

For example you might fly a Skywest operated flight but the plane is painted as a Delta plane, crew wearing Delta uniforms, etc. That for all intents and purposes is a Delta plane as far as earning is concerned.

Domestic flights in the US, I can't think of any that would carry a DL flight number and not be Delta metal.

About 18 months ago in the USA I flew on Compass airlines in an aircraft painted in DL colours.

They were DL flight numbers and earned as for DL on VFF.

(I clearly remember this as I also flew Compass painted in AA livery on that trip - earned as for AA with QFF).

I flew DL 7129 from LAS-YVR, booked on Delta website, that was operated by Westjet and I got no VFF points or status. Got a bit cranky about that after the fact, but the rules are rules. Skywest, westjet, Go jet all sound the same to me :)
But yeah, ok, thats not a domestic flight.
