Just a note on SC earning with HA (Hawaiian Airlines). I booked a RT between two of the Hawaiian Islands. Economy for the times I wanted was $190 USD (poor times were as low as $129 USD). But F was only $265 USD.

All HA economy fares earn as discount economy. So for this route, the extra $75 USD earned 80 SC for the trip instead of 20. A pretty good value for SC runs. If you ever find yourself in Hawaii, take a scenic flight in F and earn some SC. ;)

We did the same last year. Cheaper to pay for F than bother paying for baggage too.

I've found that you get similar deals pop up with Delta on various routes. Considering the difference between Economy SC earn rates and First SC earn rates, the decision is quite simple (and helps with Gold retention significantly in my case)

Ditto here. This family of 4 flew F as well. Just a note re luggage costs. If you have a return ticket on Hawaiian from Australia, show your ticket for your inter island trip and you shouldn’t have to pay for luggage.

While the price may be cheap, so is Hawaiian. I recently flew on their first class from Honolulu to LAX. Seats were OK, services was OK, lounge was cough, food was cough. It may be a cheap first class, but is is a cheap first class

I have to agree on this. We chose First Class for a trip recently to the Big Island and was happy for the free bags but the service is awful, the lounges are almost non-existent - little more than a glass box around a normal waiting area - with almost no food, uncomfortable seats and disinterested staff who wouldn't provide any assistance. Dreadful.

Yep this has come in very handy!! FWIW Delta's Economy Comfort/Slightly-better-than-Y-but-not-really-premium-economy (or whatever they are calling it) can often be had for cheaper than VA Economy, and earns SC at Premium Economy rates too

Can anyone tell me the average wait of getting status credits in your account from HA island hopping flights? Are they quick or 4-6 week wait like Etihad?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have regularly waited 5-6 weeks for SC’s to hit my account from HA.

Mine posted in 5 business days, island hopper HNL-LIH. I made sure my Velocity number was on my BP.

40 SC, 102 Velocity points. Quite the ratio.
