Earning QF on MH - why would some flights on same booking earn points and others not

Hi
Last month I had a lovely trip SIN-NRT with MH, and have been looking at the Status and Points rolling in for the SIN-KUL leg (return) however, nothing rolled in for KUL-NRT leg return, until after I logged a request, until today. The return was nil points, nil status.

Is this normal? I admit we got a cheap fare (through Expedia), so would be accepting of the entire trip being without points, but found the split a tad odd.

All I know is the fare class is economy restricted. If you can provide any advice on what to be looking for, that would be great.

Sounds like your inbound and outbound flights were in different fare buckets...

In economy, points and Status credits are earned only in YBHKMLV booking classes. Do you know what class each sector of your trip was booked into?

The minimum class for earn from MH is a "smart fare" normally V class. The sale classes earn nothing.

Yes this is normal. The sin-kul connection books into a higher fare class on MH discounted asian itineraries involving Singapore

Earning table Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Fly - Airline Partners
Some fare buckets are not listed so nil earning. Some FFP's list non earning fares as 0 0, but QF (& AA) ffp does not do this.

9.4 Qantas points are not earned on all flights
9.4.1 Points are not earned for travel on:
(a) flights or booking classes that are not listed in or are excluded in the Airline Earning Table;
(b) infant fares (infant fares do not include infants travelling in their own paid seat);
(c) charter flights;
