Frequent Flyer - Member Specials - Flights - 5,000 Extra Points with oneworld

... earn 5,000 extra Qantas Frequent Flyer points* when you fly with Qantas and one or more of our oneworld partners.

This is in addition to the points you usually earn when travelling on an eligible flight.

To earn the 5,000 extra points you must:
  • register online between 25 November 2008 and 28 February 2009, and
  • fly on a Qantas marketed flight and at least one other oneworld partner marketed flight on the same itinerary between 1 January and 31 March 2009
Meh ... for this WP, 5000 QFF points is hardly worth the trouble to make a special booking ...

Ok of course if it happens to fit one's plans ...

But if you like me who has these booking already planned its a nice 5k points :) combine that with the 10k on offer in AA for different flights and hey i will take anything free on offer.

But your right, not worth booking flights especially for 5k points.

Offer looks OK but I just cannot see how I can have a Oneworld carrier other than QF on the same itinerary when booking airfares from SE Asia on the QF website. No point in going to a travel agent in Thailand to make the booking as the 5,000 bonus QFF points are not worth the increase to the cost of airfares.

Could you not book BA to SYD and then a flight to BNE for when you next planned to go to BNE?

Thanks! Didn't hear about this one. Will go nicely with my upcoming US trip (QF/AA flight numbers on the same itin).

Cheers,
- Febs.

For some reason I had it in my mind that it needed to be 2 international flights on the one itinerary but a BA flight followed by a QF flight or vv a QF flight followed by a BA flight will do the trick. Am I correct in assuming that a return ticket with BA-QF and then QF-BA should earn 10,000 bonus QFF points?

This falls exactly into my travel window so the 15,000 bonus QFF points could come in very handy. Now need to do some researching for the necessary flights....

^ This offer is only valid for travel between the dates specified above for services with a Qantas marketed and oneworld marketed flight number on your ticket in the same itinerary. Qantas "marketed" flights means flights with a Qantas flight number on your ticket. oneworld "marketed" flights means flights with one of the following airlines: American Airlines®, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines and Royal Jordanian. Offer cannot be combined with any other bonus points offer and is not available in connection with Award seats. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer number must be recorded at the time of booking. Each Qantas Frequent Flyer member is eligible for this offer once only during the promotion, regardless of number of flights taken. Extra points will be credited to your account by 30 April 2009. Offer is subject to flight availability and schedules are subject to change and cancellation.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Can you tell I need glasses? The fine print gets me all the time.

I had a look earlier and it does not appear to be cost effective, SG$200 more, to have BA015 flight on the itinerary. And then need to consider the additional cost of losing the ability to pre-allocate exit row on that sector....

Actually, if your Emerald status is correctly in the booking, you can pre-allocate exit row seats online using ba.com.

OK, thanks. That is very handy to know.

Is ~SG$200 worth 5,000 QFF points? Not really....

As luck would have it I was able to book a one-way ticket BKK-HKG-BNE flying CX then QF. I have registered for the promotion and the 5,000 bonus points will come in handy some day.

Interesting that the airfare was ~A$1,075 on the AU expedia site but was only ~US$628 on the US Expedia site. Hopefully another a$50 saving there....

Flew BKK-HKG-BNE last week on CX and QF and now waiting for the 5,000 bonus points to add to the stockpile which should post sometime before 30 April 2009.

I am hoping to one day use some of these QFF points I am accumulating....

Luckily for me, it fit my plans and having QF book my connecting BA flight on a single itinerary it saved me a bit of money compared to booking the BA flight on its own, because of lower taxes or something like that.

I think I got charged telephone booking fees but I saved on tax, it seems. I'd rather give QF money than to the coffers of Gordon Brown.

Thanks! Didn't hear about this one. Will go nicely with my upcoming US trip (QF/AA flight numbers on the same itin).

Which unfortunately ended up being AS flight numbers*, so no joy (and no SC's either :().

Still, I should have another itinerary with QF/AA numbers before 28th Feb...so whoo. :D

*TA's doing, and wasn't something I could change without shelling out a lot more $$$ once they figured it out. :(

I have been eagerly awaiting the 5,000 Bonus points to post but nothing so far. From memory Qantas mentioned the bonus points would post end of April.
